Illinois Soundstage Capital Grants Press Conference
On February 28, 2024, I participated in the Illinois Soundstage Capital Grants Program press conference with Governor J.B. Pritzker and other elected officials. The Illinois Soundstage Capital Grants Program will match investments in new construction for large new sound stages or upgrades to existing sound stages that meet the needs of modern-day major film and television productions. Through outreach and prioritization, DCEO reached its goal with awardees across Illinois. We recognize the recipients: The Fields Studios in Chicago ($5M), The Flyover Studios in Champaign ($1.1M), and Fresh Films in Rock Island ($3.8M) as grantees of the program.

Home Repair Program (HRP)
Formerly known as the Roof and Porch Repair Program, the Home Repair Program (HRP) provides grants to income-eligible homeowners to improve their roofs or porch. The amount of financial assistance is based on household needs and available funding. A site inspection will determine the scope of work required and the repair cost. Food Scrap Drop-Off
The City of Chicago is launching its first-ever citywide Food Scrap Drop-Off Program, and all Chicago residents are welcome to drop off their household food scraps for composting at one of 15 locations across the city–for FREE! Composting keeps food scraps out of landfills, reduces harmful greenhouse gas emissions, and recycles nutrients that enrich soil.

FBACP Champions National Consumer Protection Week
The Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection (BACP) reaffirmed its commitment to educating consumers about their rights in the marketplace. It announced its National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) outreach and education initiatives. This year, NCPW is observed from March 3rd to March 9th and is designed to share comprehensive information about consumer rights and provide valuable guidance on identifying, reporting, and avoiding scams. It is an invaluable opportunity for consumers to enhance their understanding of consumer laws and acquire effective strategies to safeguard themselves against fraudulent activities.
