SOME RECENT EVENTS!

Barry Elementary Parent Mentor Little Library

On June 5, 2024, I stopped by Barry Elementary School to participate in the grand opening of their Parent Mentor Little Library. This little library will help children discover books they are passionate about, fostering a love for reading.

31st Ward Annual Shred-a-thon

On May 24, 2024, I had my shredding event. Unfortunately, we had to shut down early due to the rain; the shredding truck cannot operate while it is raining. Thank you to the Northwest Side CDC, Corridor Ambassadors, The 25th District CAPS and DCO program, Midway Document Destruction, and NewTech E-Scrap Recycling Inc. for all their help.

Wood Chips - Forestry

The woody debris from trees and branches removed by the Bureau of Forestry is 100% recycled and reused. Logs and chips are sold to vendors for biomass, construction-grade lumber, and wood chips. Forestry also creates mulch which may be used to enhance the appearance of city-owned vacant lots and landscaping.

The Bureau of Forestry of the Department of Streets & Sanitation offers free mulch. The mulch is limited for pick up from 6:30 am to 2:00 pm Monday through Friday.

The locations for pick up are:

9909 Foster (O'Hare Site)
5333 N. Western Ave (rear of the property)
2342 South Ashland Avenue (North West corner of property)
900 East 103rd Street (North East corner of property)

In observance of Juneteenth, our office will be closed on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. We will reopen to serve you on Thursday, June 20, 2024.
