345D Rebuild Update
Our excavator returns to work
As we mentioned back in August, our Caterpillar 345D is getting a certified rebuild. We recently received a final update from Cat. The unit was moved from Brewer, Maine to our new job at BETA Technologies in Burlington on Tuesday. Despite being 10 years old and having 11,753 hours on it, this unit will now run and work like a brand new unit! This should give us another full life cycle on this platform.
The upper frame is installed back onto the lower frame after hoses and valves for medium & high pressure system were installed.
The hydraulic tank is reconditioned and ready for installation.
Testing the machine and making final adjustments before the machine is returned.

Last Call for Parade Float Volunteers
Our float is starting to come together! Special shout-out and thank you to the extra help we received last Saturday from Kyle and Rainy Cornell with their kids, Harper and Henry, Pat and Stacy Maher with their kids, Rori and Ryland, Kim and Danny Webster, and Kelly Jakubowski. Your assistance was greatly appreciated!

Now it's almost go-time! We're down to two final opportunities to help with our float. We need as many hands on deck as we can get to help finish the float on time.

Electrical Cord/Equipment Safety
Project WorkSAFE visited a jobsite recently, and noticed a few items regarding electrical cords and equipment that we would like to share with everyone.
Connecting two extension cords, or "daisy-chaining" them together can cause cords to overheat and start a fire. Cords are created with specific load capacities in mind, and adding additional cords for length pushes the cords past what they are designed for.

Another similar issue that could cause a fire is when you use a splitter at the end of an electrical cord. Splitters should be plugged directly into the outlet rather than at the end of an extension cord.

It is also important that the electrical equipment being used on the jobsite is designed for construction, rather than home use. Extension cords that are 16 gauge and above are generally intended for very small tools or home appliances. Electrical cords 14 or 12 gauge are more common for construction use due to the amount of power that they can deliver.
Please always inspect cords before use to ensure the ground is in place, and there are no cuts exposing the internals of the cord. Never use an extension cord or tool that has a missing ground, or else YOU become the path of least resistance, and electricity can ground through you causing internal injury, or even possibly death.
Please keep these safety procedures in mind on every site. Thank you for staying safe!
