Gates to Park Hill Now Open 🥳
Denver Parks and Recreation recently celebrated the initial opening of Park Hill Park! Thanks to a historic land exchange, the city now owns this site, which is open to the public for passive recreation from sunrise to sunset, seven days a week. Visitors can enjoy existing trails, natural scenery, and wildlife viewing, though amenities are minimal at this stage.

Mo' Trees, Less Problems 🌳
This month, we celebrated reaching our 2025 tree planting goal of 4,500 new trees with Mayor Mike Johnston, Councilman Watson, and CASR. The accomplishment was marked by the planting of a tulip tree at Benedict Fountain Park. "This accomplishment demonstrates what is possible when we work across departments to improve the quality of life for residents. Projects like this are essential as we continue to address the heat island effect in our communities,” said DPR Executive Director Jolon Clark.

Hidden History of Cheesman Park 👻
As the city expanded, one of Denver's first cemeteries was transformed into a park, with most of the bodies relocated–though an estimated 3,000 remain beneath the grass. Over time, Cheesman Park evolved into a vital gathering place for Denver's LGBTQ community. Today, it remains a vibrant hub of queer culture.
