Body Camera Pilot
Official abuse is a common problem across sports impacting the retention of our referees. It is also a key contributor to the positive or negative impact on the well-being and mental health of Match Officials and work teams.
In response to this growing issue, the North Texas Region has partnered with Reveal Media to help deter abuse and misconduct by providing body cameras to tackle these issues.
In the next month you will start to see head refs and some court officials wearing these cameras. This notice will be sent out to all members when the official program has commenced.
Reveal Media has 2 other pilot programs that have seen success with the English FA Soccer League and Ontario Soccer. NTR will be the first volleyball specific entity to test if body worn cameras can work in our sport.
The primary objective is to Deter, De-escalate and Document any incident. Any footage obtained can only be seen from a secure online storage hub by the Executive Director, Official Coordinator and Commissioner. The video may be shared to to appropriate club directors, USA Volleyball and to the proper authorities.
The NTR Body Worn Camera policy can be found here. This policy will be periodically reviewed and may be updated from time to time. We will keep the current version of this policy posted on our website.
