"Brief Bible Study"
Our Sunday Morning Bible Study will return on January 28th at 9:30!
In the fall, we read through Genesis chapters 1-23 which is the first half of Genesis. The book begins with the story of how God created the world and moves on to other foundational stories (like Noah). The focus then shifts to a particular man, Abraham, and his relationship with God, a relationship that continues through his son, Isaac.
This winter and spring, we will finish Genesis as the story continues with Isaac's son, Jacob, and Jacob's twelve sons.
If you missed our fall Bible Study, you can still join us! Start reading Genesis (check out this FREE Bible for your Kindle) and watch this excellent summary of the first half of Genesis by The Bible Project.

What is an "Annual Meeting?"
The Annual Meeting is a business update for our parishioners: we look at the past year and what we've accomplished, we look at the coming year and what we project forward, and we look at our budget.

*NOTE* our first worship service will begin at 8am to allow sufficient time for our meeting.

Carla Durdan
Nominee, 1st term
I came as a guest to St. John's when I was expecting my son, Will, now 12 1/2, and felt so welcomed and included that I never left. We live in Springfield with my husband, Mick, who attends services occasionally but is always a silent supporter of our involvement with the church. Since becoming a member, I have been involved with the Pastoral Care Committee (Prayer shawls/baptismal blankets, Prayer Group and Meal Ministry), the newly formed Safety Committee and have assisted with Youth Group activities. Will is a part of the Youth Group and has assisted with the IT portion of Sunday Streaming Services. Will was baptized at St. John's and I'm proud to say that I was formally accepted into the Episcopal Church on September 30, 2023.
I was humbled to be nominated for the vestry and am excited to be a part of the integral operations of the church and its future growth.

Gerry Tierney
Incumbent, 3rd term
My wife Donna and I joined St. John’s with our two daughters in 1985. We were a Roman Catholic family but longed for more genuine and caring religious experience than what we had encountered. We found that at St. John’s.
I spent my career in sales and management in the computer industry then retired after 32 years and moved to the financial services industry as a Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist at the Vanguard group.
While at St. John’s I’ve tried to be involved in various projects such as finance committees, stewardship programs, ushering, counting and currently our weekly Live Stream services. I served on the Vestry in the 80s and currently am running for reelection to the current vestry.

Ron Hammer
Incumbent, 2nd term
I've attended St John’s since 2008 and felt so welcomed that I was received from Roman Catholic church into the Episcopal Church around 2010. I have volunteered on the property committee since 2008, helping to keep St John’s buildings and grounds looking nice and functioning properly. I also enjoy participating in the outreach opportunities at St John’s and have been on a mission trip to Guatemala.
Currently I act as the Chartered Organization Representative for both BSA TROOP 260 and BSA PACK 260 and help by being a liaison between our Church and the Scouts.
This is my second time being a member of the St John’s Vestry.
