This Sunday is the 33rd death Anniversary of Fr Jim Ferry, the founder of the Charismatic Renewal at St Antoninus Church, which, at that time of his coming (1975), had been closed by Dominicans who had served here for 100 years. We are who we are now and where we are now as a parish because of the vision of Fr Ferry to renew and build up this Church. (Thank you Fr Paul Lehman, Fr Bill Halbing -and Fr Joseph, who took over Fr Ferry's mission and have continued the legacy.)
We will remember Fr Ferry in a special way this Sunday.
As part of prayerfully honoring his memory and legacy, please watch the 2 videos in the "Resources" (following Mass section below. You will see how St Antoninus was transformed into life in the Holy Spirit, through the initiative of Fr Ferry. What tremendous blessing for us to be able to peek into our past - and know that the exciting work that our Lord Jesus had began in the life of St Antoninus must and will surely continue for the glory of God and salvation of souls!

"GO TELL EVERYONE" (1976)

The early days with Fr Jim Ferry at St Antoninus Church and the House of Hope. Hear Fr Jim Ferry speak about the mission of the the Catholic Charismatic Renewal.
“ The biggest thing is that the Lord wants to form us first and then from the overflow of that we want to share with everybody who wishes to come with us.
The key concept is that we have to be evangelized ourselves. We have to experience ( this) . We have to be very much part of the good news ourselves. it has to become very much part of our being and then we seek to tell (everyone.) God is leading us and as a people we just want to say we're going to follow.”

JESUS '78 -a historic interfaith Charismatic rally at the Meadowlands Stadium NJ on Pentecost - May 13, 1978.

There were 54,015 people gathered,, both Catholics and Protestants, coming together as one. This event was spearheaded by Fr Jim Ferry of St Antoninus Church. In an interview, Fr Ferry said:
"We chose the eve of Pentecost because that was the day the Holy Spirit empowered the disciples to start the church. We want to make a public statement to the nation that we who have been divided will to be one.”

Every Wednesday night- our Holy Spirit midweek refreshment!

A note about Dr Pitre:

Dr Brant Pitre is a renowned & insightful Bible scholar.

What blessing it is to listen to Dr Pitre's study on the Mass readings, to " be instructed in the Old Testament background of the Gospel, the Jewish rabbinical tradition, the testimony and interpretation of the early Church Fathers, the Church's magisterial teaching, and the personal insights of a leading Catholic Scripture scholar.
Dr. Pitre makes the Scripture come alive, and his love for God's Word comes through loud and clear. He communicates profound insights into Scripture in a manner available to everyone, from the beginner to the accomplished student or scholar"
