Administrative News

CCSD Superintendent Anita Huggins sent an email to AMHS parents on Monday, March 30, with an important announcement about AMHS Principal Jacob Perlmutter. "After five years of exceptional leadership, Mr. Jacob Perlmutter will be leaving Academic Magnet High School to serve as the next principal of Burke High School in 2026-27," said Huggins. "While we are excited for him and this well-deserved opportunity, we know this news will be bittersweet for many in the AMHS community."

We are grateful to Mr. Perlmutter for his leadership and wish him the best in his new role. Read the full announcement at this link.

Parents/Guardians Asked to Complete School Survey for the SC Department of Education

The South Carolina Department of Education partners with the Education Oversight Committee to deliver a parent survey. The response to this survey helps school and district leaders understand how parents feel about the school. A link to this survey has been sent to the parent/guardian of every student at AMHS.

Who should complete the parent survey? Parents of all K-12 students can complete one survey for each of their children attending your school. Parents of Pre-K students do not need to respond to the survey. Any parent/guardian/family member with Parent Portal access associated with a student may respond to the parent survey, but only one response per student will be accepted. For families without internet or computer access, schools should provide access to a computer or mobile device.

How can parents access the survey? Parent surveys will be administered through Powerschool Parent Portal or QR Codes. The QUICK DIRECTIONS provide information about each method of administration.

The parent survey should be completed by April 17, 2026.
