Can You Help Us Find This ASAP?
Rutland County Mutual Aid

The  MINT Makerspace  has partnered with RRMC to make face shields (see images below).  These face shields are in very high demand which makes acquiring the material to make them very difficult right now with a 3-4 week estimated wait.  They need: 0.02" PETG Clear Plastic.

If you know where to get this material, please contact Gabe Oberkirsch at  gabe@rutlandmint.org

CARES ACT "LOAN" Programs-SBA  (there will be some duplication of information)
(I received from one of my suppliers this "plain English" breakdown of some of the Small Business Administration's loan programs that have just come out. It's still daunting but ask your accountant/financial adviser for assistance in figuring out what and how you go about making some of this work for your own business. I also included the US Chamber release on this. Still a LOAD of info that is so difficult to understand and implement when you're a butcher, baker or candlestick maker.  We'll see about getting someone to come and speak with us when we're back to normal.)

(Many thanks to those who organized this endeavor and to the volunteers delivering!)
Brandon Area Deliveries - Serving, Brandon, Forest Dale, Goshen, Leicester,  Pittsford, Sudbury, Whiting
Listed below are the area's food  service  businesses and the safe  business  practices they have adopted at this time- call them to order and they can answer any questions you may have.
If you are a food provider and want to be listed here please contact Bernie Carr at info@brandon.org
Also, are you someone who is at a greater risk of contracting the virus and/or unable to access your normal method of getting necessities (food, supplies, pharmacy, etc..)? If so, then you should take advantage of the wonderful volunteers that have stepped up in our community. The Brandon Free Public Library, The Brandon Area Toy Project and the Town of Brandon have partnered to provide a delivery service for people that need help getting their supplies.
How it works is simple:
1.       Call the retailer and pay for your supplies over the phone.
2.       Let the retailer know that you are having the delivery service pick-up your items.
3.       Send an email to: delivery@townofbrandon.com with the following information: Who you are, where you ordered from, physical address for delivery, and best contact number. Or you can call Volunteer Coordinator, Colleen Wright (802) 282-6548
4.       Wait for contact from our vetted volunteer!  They will let you know how/when and where it will be dropped off (safely of course with no face-to-face contact)

Health Care needs for protective masks
You can help to fill that need by sewing them!

Local hospitals, visiting nurse associations and manufacturing facilities need personal Protective masks.  You can help to fill that need by sewing them! Or by supplying elastic or ribbon to those who are sewing.
Joanne Fabric is giving out kits (no contact pick up) which you can make and return. Joanne's will get them to where they are needed most. Or if you have new (unused) cotton material and elastic or ribbon you can make them with what you have.   Here are some links to give you  instructions, contact  and donation information
Here in Brandon, Faith Daya has been helping to coordinate efforts. She has gathered a group of volunteers who are busily working to fill an urgent request from the VNA for 500 masks. She is also in touch with local quilting groups in the  Rutland and Middlebury areas who trying to supply the hospitals. This coordination between groups will help to ensure that the masks get to where they are needed most and will minimize the number of people who are going to deliver them.
At this time, material seems to be plentiful. But, we are all running out of elastic and ribbon, bias tape, or other appropriate materials to use for ties.
If you would like to coordinate with others to make masks, have  questions about construction or materials,  or if you have elastic or tie the material that you would like to donate,  please contact Faith Daya

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Announces Precautionary Measures as Part of COVID-19 Response

Transitions to Drive-Up Service Only at Branch Locations

In an effort to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and consistent with many other banking institutions in our region, Bar Harbor Bank & Trust will temporarily transition all branch services to drive-up only service beginning on March 20.  This will allow the Bank to continue to provide full banking services, and in-person visits will be by appointment only in order to enable the Bank to conform to social distancing practices through limiting the number of customers inside at any given time.
"The health and safety of our customers, employees, and communities is of the utmost importance to us, and we are adjusting our operations to protect our employee and public health during this unprecedented time," said Curtis C. Simard, Bar Harbor Bank & Trust President and Chief Executive Officer. "Drive-up service and in-person appointments combined with our many on-line options are sensible preventative measures while continuing to provide the level of service our customers have come to expect."
Bar Harbor Bank & Trust offers a full range of tools for customers to manage their finances and get support and guidance remotely. Using Bar Harbor online and mobile banking, customers can manage their accounts, pay bills, deposit checks, transfer funds, and more - all from the comfort of their homes.
Bar Harbor Bank & Trust also has a network of more than 55 ATMs across Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont that can be accessed 24/7. Visit www.barharbor.bank to learn more about these products and services.
To further enhance the safety of our employees and customers, Bar Harbor Bank & Trust has been increasing cleaning efforts in its branches and offices, encouraging social distancing, and transitioning non-customer facing employees to work at home.
Customers who have questions or need assistance should call their local branch, a list of which can be found at www.barharbor.bank/about-us/atm-branch-locator. Customers can also call the Bank's Customer Service Center at 888-853-7100 for assistance.

First, we want to say how proud we are to be a part of this community. There are so many hard working people out there who are going the extra distance for someone else, even when their lives have been disrupted by school closures, anxiety and even loss of jobs. We are humbled by the folks who are still sending in their farm memberships. It's a great sign of HOPE... that people believe life will circle back around and it will feel even more satisfying than normal to plant, grow, and eat what the earth gives back to us.

We have been working hard to keep our farm and farm stand on track like any other "normal" year. It's a hard thing to do given the fact that no one knows what life will look like 2 weeks, 6 weeks, or even 2 hours from now. It's been difficult for us to figure out if farming is "an essential business" knowing that we have employees still coming to work and sharing a space, small kids at home and everyone is at risk even with the safest hand washing and distancing. But in our hearts we DO believe the work we are doing is one of the MOST ESSENTIAL things we can do for ourselves and our community.

We can't think what the world would look like without our work right now. Inside the big plastic greenhouse bubbles we're in, there is LIFE , and COLOR , and HOPE . And we can't wait to share that with you.

What will business look like when we open? We aren't sure. Our commitment to you is steadfast and we think gardens will be more important than ever . A vegetable or herb garden might be where people find their happiness this year. Creating a pollinator garden or potting up window boxes might be a new homeschool activity. Being outside as the world wakes back up is hopefully going to feel safe and nourishing to our spirits. There is so much unknown in the coming months. What will the regulations be on stores? We are continually thinking of how we will be able to serve our customers this spring, and how we can make our business (that is usually bustling with people) work in this new climate of distancing. Maybe we move to phone or online orders. Maybe there is a pick-up service. Maybe you can shop with a list from your car. Things are changing and we know we need to adapt. We will find a way . We ask for your support during a time that is going to be a hard change for all of us. There is nothing we like better than to see our farm stand buzzing with happy people, children discovering the love of plants, older customers meandering through...and our hearts hope that this will again be the way we can do business.

While we continue to sow the seeds for summer goodness, we send out good thoughts to all of you doing your part out there. We wish more than anything we could invite you in to our warm greenhouses where things are growing their little hearts out , ignorant to any changes in our world. One of our favorite bits of spring has been opening our doors to the public for our Open Greenhouse event in late April. It will most likely not be able to happen this year, so we invite you to please follow us on Facebook and Instagram where we are really good at keeping you inspired with photos of the work we are doing. For now, hopefully the virtual peak inside will fill your hearts and lift your spirits .

We love what we do. We love our community. And now more than ever, we love thinking that Wood's will still be your happy place.

-Jon, Courtney, Beth, Elsie, Alex & Gerry

Here's what Swan&Stone Millinery is doing:
Our spring Art Shows have been cancelled (or postponed until late summer) so this spring we will be staying local, at home with our kids and in the studio.

We continue to work on our spring and summer production--our full line of water resistant rain hats and our elegant straw sun and special occasion hats--and will focus our efforts on our website and local sales.  We will be running various specials online and our hours are "by appointment only," so that we can continue to accommodate custom orders and in-studio purchases.
