Watch Parenting in the Age of Social Media
Recording Today!
| |
This week, CCSD93 hosted a Parenting in the Age of Social Media presentation featuring School Resource Officers Phil Jaffe of the Bloomingdale Police Department and Tom Andrejevic of the Carol Stream Police Department, who shared:
- Valuable insights on the lasting impact of a child’s online behavior.
- Potential social media pitfalls that every parent should be aware of.
- Key tips and practical information to help children navigate today’s digital world safely and responsibly.
- A Q&A session.
If you didn't have the chance to attend, please take time to watch its recording at www.ccsd93.com/sm when you have the opportunity. You'll learn more about important takeaways, like:
- Establishing strong communication and expectations of social media use with your child is essential.
- As a parent, you have every right to access your minor child's phone. Doing so doesn't mean that you don't trust them, but instead acknowledges the reality that there are strangers online who can't be trusted.
- No child should have two calculator apps, and if they do, one may not be what it seems.
- ... and much more.
I'm so grateful for our partnerships with our local police departments and for the commitment Resource Officers Jaffe and Andrejevic have for keeping our students safe!
