4:12 Sermon Series

Week 3: Trusting in God when life seems unfair

Scripture: Genesis 40 (The Cupbearer and the Baker)

Takeaway: Even when life feels unfair, slow, or stuck, God is still at work. Your faithfulness in the waiting seasons prepares you for the opportunities He has ahead.

Parent Discussion Questions:

1.     “Have you ever done the right thing and still felt forgotten or stuck, like Joseph in prison?”

2.     “Why do waiting seasons feel so frustrating—especially when you don’t know how long they’ll last?”

3.     How do you think God might use waiting seasons to prepare you for something bigger later on?

Week 4: Forgiveness Over Revenge

Scripture: Genesis 42 (Joseph reveals himself to his brothers)

Takeaway: When someone hurts you, the natural response is anger, but God calls us to forgiveness and grace. Forgiveness frees you and allows God’s plan to unfold.

Parent Discussion Questions:

1.     When someone hurts you deeply, what feels easier: forgiveness or seeking revenge? Why do you think that is?

2.     Joseph had the power to punish his brothers, but chose forgiveness. What do you think forgiveness gave Joseph that revenge never could?

3.     How does remembering how much we’ve been forgiven by God change the way we respond to people who hurt us?

Family Resources

We disciple our kids by modeling spiritual disciplines, such as prayer and time in God’s Word. Ushering our kids to the heart of Christ by having healthy conversations about faith and the things of God. Asking good questions and helping them learn how to wrestle with their own questions. In this video, Kayla Self gives three simple ways to disciple your teen toward the heart of Christ.
