As we approach the end of April and get closer to summer, the obvious question is:
"Will there be VMS Summer Camps this year?"
Like many of you, we are constantly researching existing data and searching for new information to answer that question. We are following developments from the American Camp Association and monitoring any new state mandates regarding schools and camps. As soon as we have guidelines, we will provide them to all of you.
Rest assured, if you have signed up for summer camps, you have not paid for them yet. Summer payments are made on June 2 and July 2. If there is a state mandate to remain closed and we cancel camps before they start, you will not be charged.
If we are given clearance to offer camps, we are prepared.
However it looks, we are committed to putting together a program for those who would like to have their child participate.
In addition, we are exploring an
"Essential Workers Childcare Program"
for VMS families who are essential workers and have children in the Early Childhood and Elementary programs.
We are expecting to have additional information after May 1. Thank you for your patience.
On a different note, we have a couple fre
e, live stream events coming up very soon that may be of interest to you.
TONIGHT! Live Stream Earth Day Concert - 7pm
Ask your children if they remember Mr. Eco and his "Sort Like Crazy" song that he led at a performance at VMS in February. This group provides excellent information in a very entertaining way. Log on with your children at 7pm for 50 minutes of fun!
Tomorrow: Parenting through the Pandemic - 5:30pm
This Live Stream event is hosted by Dr. Surina Mazzola of Blackhawk Family Development Center to address the challenges parents are facing during the pandemic and practical ways to stay positive through it all.
See below for information and links for both. Providing support to our VMS families is particularly important now. Please continue reading for other ideas for making this journey a little easier.
