They were all so amazed that they debated and questioned each other, saying, "What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits (demons), and they obey Him."

  [ Things to Avoid ]
What leads to [the unending] quarrels and conflicts among you? Do they not come from your [hedonistic] desires that wage war in your [bodily] members [fighting for control over you]? You are jealous and covet [what others have] and your lust goes unfulfilled; so you murder. You are envious and cannot obtain [the object of your envy]; so you fight and battle. You do not have because you do not ask [it of God]. You ask [God for something] and do not receive it, because you ask with wrong motives [out of selfishness or with an unrighteous agenda], so that [when you get what you want] you may spend it on your [hedonistic] desires. ...

4/28 DEBATES FOR CHRISTIANS

Good Day! Because you can hide so easy on social media, many Christians choose to debate or challenge others. Here there is no respect for eldership, position etc. Particularly weak or new Christians choose to pick on others with differing beliefs. However, it is true in the world outside of social media also. Here are some points for Christians.

* Don't debate, teach. Christ was NOT the great debater. He was the great teacher.
* Teach from Scripture. All Scripture is good for that Timothy says.
* Do not at all let it look like a quarrel. Particularly if others are listening or watching. All our speech is to be encouraging. (Ephesians. 4:29) With Scripture quoted you are only having the person reach higher in their use of and maturity in the Word of God.
* If you or the other person gets into name calling the debate is over.
* If this is with a non-believer, you should wait for them to ask a question before you engage them. Give them a reason to ask and do so with courtesy and respect. (I Pet. 3:15)

Let us pray.
Dear Father God,

May we look at and compliment each presentation differently from now on.
May we look for the growth in it.

I n Jesus Holy Name, we pray!
