Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up at the end of the month and PIE needs your help to shower AMHS teachers and staff with gratitude. PIE will be providing personal notes and a gift card to every staff member and will be raffling off gift baskets. The teachers LOVE the gift basket day and deciding which baskets they would LOVE to WIN! In addition, PIE appreciates any amount given to Venmo which will be split among all of our staff and teachers in the form of gift cards.

Snack Donations Still Needed To Fuel Students Through Testing

Every year, PIE coordinates snacks for the students during their AP and Finals Testing break time. As you can imagine, this involves a significant number of students and therefore requires a tremendous amount of snacks. If you are willing to purchase any of the below items, we would be very grateful for your support!

Sign up to donate snacks at this link.

Please deliver items to Ms. Ryan's office by April 25. Ms. Ryan is in room 7111. Please be sure to label the snacks for Testing Snacks.

Academic Bowl Team Makes Comeback for Championship Win

Huge congratulations to our Academic Bowl Team for their late-night, come-from-behind championship win for the CCSD Academic Bowl! The team came in first place after a second round of finals became necessary following a 51-50 loss to SOA. The team came roaring back in the second round and finished with a score of 77-26! The Team MVP is Finn Hayes who is also the captain. Congratulations to team coaches Ms. Etikerentse and Ms. Vann.

Technology Student Association Earns Honors

Congratulations also to the AMHS Technology Student Association scholars and coaches Jill Beuk & Brandon Lovering, who swept the SC TSA State Conference on March 28th-30th, earning eight first place awards, 10 second place awards, and three third place awards! In addition to these accolades, two scholars, Jacob Beuk and Maddy Jolly have earned positions on the South Carolina TSA State Leadership Team and will be headed to the national competition in late June. To learn more about their success, visit this link on the AMHS website.

Congrats to Harper Woodlee '28 who won a National Scholastic Award and a Golden Key Regional Award!

Congratulations to Amy Adyaeva and Vanessa Nguyen, who received a Student Service Grant from NASSP with the support of The Allstate Foundation in the amount of $1,000. With this funding, they will be working on a project that is an extension of their nonprofit & AMHS club “Jump Over the Odds.” They are working with Agape Care Group, a hospice and palliative care group that works with local facilities and patients in their private homes, on a landscaping project to create a therapeutic garden area for patients at a local facility. The project, a “Roots of Care Initiative,” is scheduled to be at the Oaks at Mt. Pleasant on April 12th from 8AM to around 1PM - we will be cleaning, planting, and making the place more lively! If interested, please fill out the Google form at this link. The number of volunteers will be capped, so those with gardening tools will have higher priority. Please email Amy Adyaeva or Vanessa Nguyen with any questions!

The Meeting Street Scholarship Fund provides up to $10,000 per year in college scholarships for high-achieving South Carolina students with a demonstrated financial need (who will be attending an eligible South Carolina college/university).

We're accepting scholarship applications for the 2024-25 school year from January - May. Apply now at this link.

Community Service + Activities

Ms. McCall and Ms. Krupilis regularly post opportunities for service on students' Canvas page and those are also sometimes shared on AMHS social media accounts. Students are encouraged to find opportunities for service in their own communities. Additional opportunties that are shared with the Raptor Report are listed below.

Volunteers are needed for the Walk for Autism on April 26, 2025 from 7 am to 1:30 pm.  Any students wishing to volunteer can come for part of the hours or all. If interested in volunteering please contact Rose O'Neal at 843-553-1316 or rrzoneal@hotmail.com

Volunteers will assist in several tasks: setting up tables and tents; manning jump castles, food stations, silent auction tables, merchandise table, ticket sales and at the end of the event breaking down tables and tents along with clean up.

One Last Thing ...

The Raptor Report is published weekly by AMHS PIE on Wednesdays during the school year except for holiday breaks.

Faculty, students, and parents are encouraged to submit articles and/or pictures of AMHS events, honors, and needs.

Please email your information to the Raptor Report Editors by 5 pm on the Monday preceding the Wednesday publication date.
