4 Great Events, Tonight and this Weekend!

TonightThe Northern Manhattan Alliance for the Arts' Annual Arts Stroll starts tonight at Highbridge Park. The stroll showcases our community's amazing painters, photographers, writers, musicians, sculptors, actors, dancers and filmmakers, and is a great event for all. Tonight's kickoff runs from 6:30 to 8:00pm and will be held at Highbridge Park, Amsterdam Ave and 172nd St.

Saturday: Uptown's Annual Spring Clean will bring residents from across our Northern Manhattan community together to clean our streets and parks. This year's event will be held at two locations: for those further uptown in Inwood, the rally point will be Manny's Pharmacy at 207th St. and Broadway. For those lower in the neighborhood, residents should gather at the flagpole in Bennett Park on 183rd St. and Fort Washington Ave. Shovels, brooms and other cleaning supplies will be handed out at the rally points, courtesy of the NYC Dept. of Sanitation; and special thank you to the Hudson Heights Owners Coalition, NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, Spoiled Brats, Ft. Washington Collegiate Church, Dichter Pharmacy, Buunni Coffee, Sparkle Tiger Face Painting and Bennett Park Community Alliance. Rally at 9:30 at Dichter Pharmacy or Bennett Park.

Sunday: Row New York will hold their first ever "Heroes Row the Harlem" race, featuring members of the FDNY and NYPD. The two great sides will face off against one another to settle the age old question of who is stronger, fire fighter or police officer? The event begins at 11:00 AM at the Peter J. Sharp Boathouse just south of Dyckman Street off of the FDR highway. The event will be followed by a party at the boathouse with a picnic and free pace painting for kids. Tours are available of the boathouse and there will be information distributed about how to sign up for rowing lessons.

Also Sunday: Drums along the Hudson: A Native American Festival and Multicultural Celebration! presented by Lotus Music and Dance. This event will feature drummers and dancers from around the world, a pow wow, environmental tent, story telling, native arts & crafts and international foods. It will be held in Inwood Hill Park beyond the entrance at 218th St, from 11:00 AM-6:00 PM. It is free for all who wish to attend so come out and learn about Native American culture!
