The Foundation for the Preservation of Honey Bees has announced the topic for the 2022 4H Beekeeping Essay contest. The topic, eligibility requirements, deadlines, and other information are now on our website at:

Essays must be received by me no later than midnight, April 8, 2022, to be considered for this year's contest. The best essay will be selected as our state winner, and will be submitted to the national contest. State winners will receive a book on honey bees. National contest winners will receive cash prizes. Winning essays from previous years can be found at:

An essayist from Arkansas took the top prize in 2020, so let's encourage our young writers to participate!

We are encouraging every county to team up with Keep Arkansas Beautiful this year. This month’s service project focuses on picking up trash since Earth Day is on April 22 and one neat thing is Keep Arkansas Beautiful will provide trash bags, gloves, safety vests, volunteer t-shirts and caution signsOur goal is to have ALL 75 counties participate with Keep Arkansas Beautiful in 2022!

Online TCM Technology Classes


The Tech Changemaker program will be hosting an 8-week series of online classes, via Zoom, on Tuesdays from 4:00 – 4:30 pm..

2022 4-H Poster Art Contest


The Poster Art contest is back!! We would love for your 4-H'ers to participate!


Posters and document should be submitted by May 6.


The rules and guidelines are:

 

· Open to ALL 4-H members ages 9-19



· Themes include: Cloverdrive or Open theme (create a 4-H theme and poster to go with it)


· Posters can be horizontal or vertical and can be created using any of the following mediums: ink, crayon, acrylic, charcoal, colored pencil, collage or digital.


· Posters should only contain original creations. (Please refrain from using any copyrighted material.) 



· Posters must be submitted digitally.

We are also recruiting volunteers within the clubs! Some of the volunteer opportunities at the club level include:


  • Project Leader- coordinates efforts in one project.
  • Educational Activity Leader- coordinates educational activities of the club.
  • Community Service Leader- coordinates community service activities of the club.
  • Resource/Support Volunteer- shares a specific skill or resource with the club on a short term basis. 

Recipe of the Month!

Strawberry S'Mores


1 Serving

90 Calories per serving


Ingredients

  • 2 strawberries
  • 1 graham cracker (broken in half)
  • 1/8 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt (2 tablespoons)


Directions

1. Rinse strawberries in water

2. Slice strawberries

3. Add yogurt and strawberries to 1/2 of graham cracker

4. Top with the other 1/2 of graham cracker

5. Enjoy immediately!
