The New Mexico Senior Leadership Retreat
|
|
The New Mexico Senior Leadership Retreat is an exciting opportunity for Oklahoma youth to participate in leadership workshops, career exploration field trips, cultural tours and network with 4-H youth from New Mexico. Additionally, there will be lots of opportunities to make new friends, participate in community service programs, dance, play games and have fun! This trip will happen January 19-23, 2023 and registration is due December 15th. I would like to see this trip or a similar leadership trip be an annual event so help promote this opportunity and let’s fill the bus!
There are a couple of financial opportunities for youth who are planning to attend.
First, New Mexico 4-H has asked if some of our youth would like to present a workshop on Friday evening (their officers will be conducting workshops as well). What a great leadership opportunity! You can do this alone or get another 4-H member or two to join you. The chosen application will receive a $500 discount (split between all presenters) towards the conference. Submit your workshop proposal using this form https://forms.office.com/r/3CQX3Q2VDp by December 5th.
Second, the Oklahoma 4-H Foundation is offering Rule of Law Scholarships for those with financial needs. If accepted these scholarships are expected to be between $150 - $250. This application is also due December 5th.

’Tis the season to give. Why not give to 4-H youth?
|
It’s the time of year when many people are decking the halls for the holidays and planning menus for special meals. From a financial aspect, it’s also the end of the tax year. That means tax payers have just a few weeks left to decide which 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charities and causes they wish to support with their charitable outright cash gifts.
Milford Jenkins, executive director of the Oklahoma 4-H Foundation, said donations to the Foundation have a direct impact on Oklahoma’s 4-H youth.
“Charitable outright cash gifts can be restricted (designated) to support the 4-H program or activity of the donor’s choice,” he said. “For example, donors may wish to support the 4-H Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program; Shooting Sports; Healthy Living; ATV Safety Training; Food, Fun, 4-H; Leadership and Civic Engagement; or 4-H club volunteer training.”
