Hello 4-H Dog and Cat Parents and Guardians!
You are welcome to attend the Companion Animal Committee Meetings. You will not be a voting member of the committee (unless you are already a current Companion Animal committee member) as our committee is full.
Some of our meetings are done via zoom and others in-person. Our next meeting is scheduled for TUESDAY, MARCH 25, 6:45 PM in-person. We typically meet in the Windmill room at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds. Shooting Sports Practice Updates
Attention families:
- This year, check in for shooting sport practices will begin at 1:40 PM. The safety briefing will be held promptly at 1:45 PM.
- Any youth who is not in attendance for the safety briefing will not be able to shoot that day. You MUST be at the safety briefing that day in order to participate in practice.
- For youth in shotgun disciplines, the safety briefings are held prior to shotgun practices. If a youth attends a safety debriefing prior to shotgun practice, he/she will not be required to attend a second safety briefing in order to shoot at practice that same day.
- In other words, youth who attend a shotgun practice that morning will not need to attend a second safety briefing that same day, but they are welcome to do so.
- Overall, every youth must attend at least one safety briefing the same day as practice in order to participate in practice that day.

Colorado State Fair Master Showmanship
The Fair Planning Committee has decided to nominate a youth in our county for the Master Showmanship event this year.
The event is similar to Round Robin. Participants will be asked to show a market steer, goat, lamb, hog, and horse as well as take a written exam. A Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Master Showman will be selected based on the highest combined scores of the live show classes and written exam. To enter, participants must have won their county's Master Showmanship class or their county's equivalent.
The rules and date for 2025 are not published yet, but you can read a copy of the 2024 Colorado State Fair Master Showman rules here. There is also a video of last year's show here. We will have more information in our Fair Book and will continue to post updates in our newsletter.
Stay tuned, and know that we are excited to have someone represent Arapahoe County this year.

NEW 4-H Scholarship!
These scholarships are for $1,000 per student, and we have 20 available this year. The deadline to apply is February 25, 2025. All scholarship recipients will be invited to the 2025 Canvas Scholarship Banquet which will take place in Thornton, Colorado on Saturday, May 10, 2025. Click on the image above for the application.
The funds for these scholarships are raised through our Northern Colorado Golf Tournament and we would welcome any help with the planning and promotion of our tournament in 2025! Please let us know if that’s something you’re interested in and we’ll be sure to provide you with additional information once the planning process begins early next year. We would love to grow the tournament enough next year to either (a) double the total number of scholarships or (b) double the amount of each scholarship.
