Fridays at Our Office
This is just a friendly reminder that both our office and the Open Spaces office are closed to walk-ins on Fridays. If you need to drop something off with us, it must be done Monday - Thursday from 8 - 4:30. If you need to speak with one of us in person, an appointment must be made.
2021 Achievement Award Info

4-H Club Organizational Leaders, please see information on special awards for the 4-H Achievement Award Program to be held on Thursday, October 7 at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds. Click here for the application/nomination forms.
 
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1 - is the deadline to submit the following:
                                                                                                       
1. Club Status Reports:
Citizenship certificates and gift go to clubs who complete club status report.

2. Club Secretary & Treasurer Books:
All 4-H club secretaries and treasurers are to submit their club Secretary and Treasurer books for judging. Books will be judged on neatness, clarity, completeness of record book and correct form.

3. Club Scrapbooks:
Scrapbooks include pictures or anything representative of your 4-H Club program. They are judged on: neatness, creativity, and how well they tell the story of your 4-H club. Scrapbooks may be cumulative, but should be separated by years and must be completed by membersPlease list the
4-H members who worked on the scrapbook.
 
4. Cloverbud Recognition:
Cloverbuds in attendance will be recognized by receiving a special gift and certificate at the Achievement Awards program.
 
5. T-Shirt "Make the Best Better" Award:
T-shirts are awarded at the Achievement Awards program to outstanding 4-H members in Arapahoe County. To be eligible, 4-H'ers must have completed two years in 4-H, be twelve by December 31, 2020 and not have received a major award (trip or Grand Champion Award) during this 4-H year. Awards are based on club and county participation including completion of 4-H projects. Leaders may recommend one or more members by completing the enclosed application. If you recommend more than one, please rank your nominees.
 
6. Danforth Award (Outstanding 4-H Member of the Year):
Members who were 14 by December 31, 2020 may submit applications or be nominated by their leader for the Danforth Award, which is presented each year to two 4-H'ers in the county. This must include a written letter of recommendation from an adult club leader. Judging is based on leadership qualities, academic achievements, school or community involvement, general character and integrity.

7. Learn By Doing:
Members must have completed two years in 4-H (count this year and any Cloverbud Years, be 8-11 years old this year and not have received a major award (trip or Grand Champion Award) during this 4-H year. Leaders may recommend one or more members, but are asked to rank them 1, 2, 3, etc.
 
Feel free to make additional copies of the application/nomination forms as needed. The forms for nominations have been posted on the website and can be found here. Thanks for working on these items to recognize our 4-H Youth and Leaders!

2021 Achievement Invitations

The 2021 4-H Achievement Program invitations were sent this morning via email. If you don't see yours, please check your spam or junk folder. Jean sent them so they will be from her email. Reservations ARE required for everyone attending, even if you are helping that day. If you are making reservations for your family, please make sure to make reservations for everyone in your family who is attending. ALL reservations are due by 4 p.m. on September 27. Absolutely NO reservations will be accepted after this time as this is a catered dinner. Do NOT just show up at the event. In case you can't find your email, you can also click here to RSVP.

Attention Organizational Leaders - Club Chartering is due August 31.

Please note that if your Club By-Laws are still current from last year, you will NOT have to re-do them this year. If there have been any changes to your Club By-Laws, you will have to resubmit them in the correct format. All other documents will have to be resubmitted for 2021-2022.

Once you have them done, scan them in and email them to Jean (or you can mail them to her as well). She will upload them into 4HOnline for you.

Your club or committee’s chartering documents must be emailed (or received in the office if you mail them) to Jean at jwalton@arapahoegov.com by 
August 31st . Leaders need to completely fill out the chartering packet and send it to us. All document signers must be enrolled and activated in 4HOnline!
Trainings and Meetings
4-H CODE OF CONDUCT VOLUNTEER TRAINING

Volunteers, Arapahoe County is hosting a Front Range 4-H Regional Volunteer Training on Thursday, September 16 6:30 PM (via zoom). This is a GREAT opportunity to learn what is in the 4-H Code of Conduct and understand what the conduct stands for and why we need to be good role models for our 4-H members across the region and state. ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERS MEETING

Organizational leaders, please plan to be in attendance at the annual mandatory Organizational Leaders Meeting on Tuesday, October 19, 6:30 PM (via zoom). If you can’t make it as the organizational leaders please make sure that one of your co-organizational leaders or project leaders are in attendance. Click here to register.

State Fair Foods and Cakes Reminder

Foods and Cakes state fair projects must be dropped off to the CSU Extension Office by Tuesday, August 17 by 3 PM. There will be NO later time as we are taking state fair projects down on Wednesday morning, 8/18.

More Opportunities
FREE Volunteer Training Weekend Retreat
You are invited to attend the Colorado National Guard's annual volunteers’ training retreat at the beautiful La Foret Conference Center on August 20th-22nd!

This retreat is available to a small group of Arapahoe County 4-H volunteers as an all-expenses paid weekend retreat.

Come and meet the team, learn a few things and share your insight. The training will consist of guest speakers/trainers, interactive content and required training set forth by the government.
