Just in case you missed the email that was sent out on 9/3/24 at 5:18 p.m., State Fair projects are back! Quite a few of them have been picked up but we still have some left in our office. If you have not yet picked your project(s) up, please come and get them ASAP as we do not have room to store them in our office and we have a class in that room on Wednesday, 9/11. Our address, if you need it, is at the bottom of this newsletter. As a reminder, both our office and the Open Spaces office are closed to walk-ins on Fridays. Projects may be picked up Monday - Thursday, 8 - 4:30 p.m. Both offices close promptly at 4:30.

2024 4-H Achievement Program

Dear 4-H Members, Leaders & Families,

You are cordially invited by the Arapahoe County 4-H Foundation to attend the 2024 4-H Achievement Program to be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. This is our opportunity to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments and activities of the youth and adult leaders in the Arapahoe County 4-H program. Through the Arapahoe County 4-H Foundation’s generosity this event is being held at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds, located at 25690 E. Quincy Ave., Aurora, 80016. It will be a full meal and will be catered by Olive Garden.

Reservations are required! Please note that there is a $6.00 fee for each family member and friend who are not Arapahoe County 4-H members, leaders who are receiving an award, committee members, or County staff. This fee is to help defray the cost of the meal and any additional program expenses. All 4-H members, including Cloverbuds; leaders receiving awards, County staff, or a member of a 4-H committee are exempt from the $6.00 fee. Awards will be presented to County Fair grand champion winners, reserve grand champion winners, unit champions and reserve champions (FCS & General projects), special leader/member awards and leaders based on years of service (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 15, 20, etc.)

Reservations are mandatory and must be made by 4 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2024. All attendees MUST make reservations, even if you are helping at the event. We must receive your reservations online by that date! E-mail or mail-in reservations will not be accepted. Please DO NOT call to ask if you can make reservations after 10/1 as it is a full meal, and we have to turn in an accurate count to the caterers. It is each family’s responsibility to check and see if we received your reservation if you are unsure. Please do this prior to 10/1. DO NOT just show up at the event.

PLEASE NOTE: Since Eventbrite is no longer free, we are now on a paid, monthly subscription. This plan only allows us to have 100 or less tickets per event, so I am having to split up the reservation sign ups this year for the Achievement Program. This applies to ALL who will be attending. Sign up will be done by LAST NAME.

For last names between A – C, click here to make your reservations.

For last names between D – G, click here to make your reservations.

For last names between H – L, click here to make your reservations.

For last names between M – U, click here to make your reservations.

For last names between V – Z, click here to make your reservations.

If you need any help with the sign ups (for example, if a ticket says they are sold out), please contact me and I’ll be happy to help you (if it is prior to the 10/1, 4 p.m. reservation deadline). Please be patient with me as this is the first time I’ve had to set up the event this way.

If payment is owed, you may pay by check (made out to Arapahoe County

4-H Foundation) and mail it to our office (CSU Extension, Arapahoe County, 6934 S. Lima St., Suite B, Centennial, CO 80112 – Attn: Jean), or you may pay online with a credit card for a processing fee. If you are a 4-H Leader who is receiving an award, a member of the Arapahoe County 4-H Foundation, County staff or you are on an official 4-H Advisory Committee, please select the appropriate category for yourself when you register so there will be no charge for you.

The Arapahoe County Fairgrounds is located near Quincy Ave. & Gun Club Rd. The complete street address is listed above if you need to look up driving directions to the Fairgrounds.

CHRISTMAS IN SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER!

NOT JULY!

Can you believe it? Christmas is almost here again! The Arapahoe County

4-H Foundation is again preparing for the annual Holiday Evergreen sale. The 4-H Foundation’s annual budget is $36,150.00. In order to meet this budget, it depends upon the Holiday Evergreen sale, donations from Friends of 4-H and other gifts.

Four college scholarships in the amount of $15,500 are available each year. The 4-H Foundation also sponsors the leader/member awards, Tools of the Project for county fair champions and reserve champions, outreach programs and the meal for the Achievement Awards program. It supports training for 4-H members and leaders and picks up contest fees at State 4-H Conference and State Fair and helps promote 4-H and the 4-H Outreach programs.

To provide funding for these activities, it relies heavily on the Holiday Evergreen sale and needs the support of 4-H clubs and families. The Foundation also reaches out to the public to purchase holiday evergreens.

Sale materials will go out to 4-H Club leaders the last week of September. The deadline for orders this year is Monday, October 27. 4-H Clubs are also asked to send the name of their wreath sale chairperson to Kathy McDaniel, 303-919-2177 or Larrykathy4@aol.com.

We are asking that all 4-H leaders and members help with this fund raiser.
