Douglas County Fair ID Badges
NEW PROCEDURE
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is processing Fair ID Badges for 4-H members differently this year. You will NOT need to schedule an appointment through the Extension Office to get your photo taken at the Sheriff's Office. Simply fill out the form below and take a photo of the 4-H member (shoulders & above), then email both the form and picture to
[email protected]. The form and a picture must be emailed by
Thursday, July 12th
at 5:00 pm to give the Sheriff’s Office time to process the badges. You will get an email from the Sheriff's Office notifying you that the badge is ready for pickup at 4000 Justice Way, Castle Rock, CO between 7:00 am – 10:00 pm, 7 days a week. Every 4-H member MUST have a Fair ID badge to enter the Fair free of charge, and for security purposes. Cloverbuds are welcome to get a Fair ID Badge as well, but children ages 7 or under already get into the fair for free. If your Fair ID Badge from previous years has a picture of a GOAT or a RABBIT, you do NOT need to request a new badge this year. Please contact the Extension Office if you need assistance emailing the form and/or picture.

Swine Showmanship Clinic

Topic:
Swine Showmanship. You will have the opportunity to learn from former Champion Showmen on new techniques for showring showmanship and how to train and prepare your swine project for the Douglas County Fair. Learn how to get your pig to properly drive, provide good hair and skin care, and clip your pig before fair. Basics of feeding and healthcare will also be covered.
Who should attend:
Beginner and experienced 4-Hers currently enrolled in the swine project and those looking to be in the project next year.
Trainers:
Tanner and Shelbie Sperle, the Swine superintendents, will also be available to answer questions about the Douglas County Fair Swine Show.
Parking:
Please park outside the fence in the parking lot. Trailers with the pigs can come in gate A (which is the gate by Kirk Hall) and drive around to the pavilion and park outside the fence. There will not be any access through the gate by the Indoor Arena or through the midway.

Market Swine Tagging and Identification
|
All swine are self-tagged with tags provided by the Extension Office. You must pick up a tag, and tag your swine prior to April 30th.
Market hogs will also need a Swine ID Form filled out with necessary photos (see Swine ID Form).
Swine ID forms are due by April 30
th
at 5:00 pm to the Extension Office. Nothing needs to be done in 4H Online for Swine IDs.

4-H 201, May 15th at 6:00 pm
Kirk Hall, Douglas County Fairgrounds
4-H 201 covers all things about the Douglas County Fair including how to use the ShoWorks fair entry program. This training is strongly encourage for all new families who will be participating in fair, animal shows, and county shoot. Livestock families are also encourage to attend, as we will be covering information on the Junior Livestock Sale and answer your questions. We will even have computers available for families to enter 4-H youth in the fair entry program. RSVP by May 11th by using the online form below, or by calling the Extension Office. Attendance at 4-H 101 not required!

Meat Quality Assurance (MQA) and Pork Quality Assurance (PQA) Training
Many of you have received emails from Claudia about MQA training. MQA is a youth quality assurance program for animal projects (livestock, poultry, and rabbits). Training will be
Thursday, April 26 at Kirk Hall on the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Training starts at 4:00 PM and will run until 7:00 PM. Youth must arrive before 6:00 PM to complete the training. Training is for youth ONLY, but parents are welcome to join their children.
If you have not RSVPd, please do so by April 23rd to [email protected]. If you cannot make the Douglas County training, you may attend another county’s program. Please let Claudia and the other county’s agent know if you will be attending another training. If MQA is not completed, youth will not be able to show at fair. A list of those who are required to attend is at the Extension Office.

Animal ID Deadline – April 30th at 5:00 pm
If you are unable to stop into the Extension Office before 5:00 pm prior to April 30th, please us the document slot in the front door of the office for drop-off after normal business hours.

Animal IDs are due for the following animals:
Dog – uploaded in 4H Online with vaccination records
Cat – uploaded in 4H Online
Llama – uploaded in 4H Online
Horse – ID uploaded in 4H Online. Signed Showring Code of Ethics and Animal Care & Housing Form emailed to [email protected], or brought to the Extension Office.
Swine – ID Form dropped off to the Extension Office.
Breeding Sheep - ID uploaded in 4H Online OR *can also bring ID form to Sheep/Goat Weigh in on May 1st*
Non-Market Goats (breeding, dairy, fiber, utility, pygmy) - ID uploaded in 4H Online OR *can also bring ID form to Sheep/Goat Weigh in on May 1st*
If we do not have an ID for your animal, you will not be allowed to show at county fair.
