The Horse Level Study and Test Night will be held on February 22nd at 5:30 pm at Kirk Hall. Study session will be from 5:30 pm to 7 pm and the test will be from 7:30 pm to 8 pm.

Elbert/Douglas County Livestock Association Memorial Scholarship
Available to Seniors going into an Agricultural field of study
The EDCLA is offering 2 scholarships ($1,000 each) to seniors that have been accepted into an accredited college and are pursuing a major in an Agricultural related area. Below is a link to the application form that should be submitted with a typed essay. The application due date is on or before April 15, 2018, mailed to the address on the application.
WESTERN HERITAGE 4-H PROJECT
The 4-H Western Heritage Project is a combination of 4-H Shooting Sports and a living history of the “Old West” from 1860 to 1900. Participants in this project compete in a modified Cowboy Action Shooting event designed specifically for 4-H. In addition, the participants learn about the old west and develop a "character" or persona as well as an outfit to use as part of the shooting competition. This is the second year for the project to be included as an official event at county shoot.

Horse Judging

Youth interested in participating in the 4-H Horse Judging Program are encouraged to attend the first meeting on Thursday, March 1 at 5:00 PM in the basement of the Douglas County Extension Office.

Horse judging is an excellent program for both youth with and without horses. 4-H Leader, Lindsay Griffith will be coaching the team.
CLOVER CLAN 4-H CLUB MEMORIAL QUILT COMMUNITY PROJECT

Clover Clan 4-H Club is making a memorial quilt to be given to Douglas County Sherriff's office in memory of Deputy Zackari Parrish. They are asking for 4-H clubs to donate a 12 inch square for the quilt. They would need the quilt piece no later than March 8th. Squares can be brought to the Extension Office. Beef Enrollment and Weigh-In
The beef project enrollment deadline is March 1st. You must be enrolled in the beef project in 4honline.com by this date or you will not be able to participate.

Market Beef tagging and weigh-in will be held on Saturday, March 3rd by the Pavilion on the Douglas County Fairgrounds. You must attend to participate in market beef project.

ALL brand papers must be in the youth’s name. Breeding projects must have the brand papers to Extension office before March 3rd or can bring the paperwork to beef weigh in.

Animal care forms (if animal is not housed at your house) must be turned in by March 3rd or can be brought to beef weigh in. Forms can be emailed to [email protected]
Friends of the NRA Banquet - Saturday March 17

Douglas County 4-H Shooting Sports Program was recently awarded a grant through the Friends of NRA. To give back to the Friends of NRA, the DC 4-H Shooting Sports Program is asking for volunteers to help at the upcoming Friends of NRA Banquet on Saturday, March 17 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds Event Center. Volunteers are needed in the following roles:
9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Unpack items and assemble
Setup tables
Setup live auction table
Setup silent auction tables
Assemble and distribute table folders
Setup game tables

4:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Serve as auction runner
Assist game table sales
Late activities: Breakdown/Packing

Cattle Handling and 4-H Ranch Horse Clinic
Register Online by March 6
The State 4-H Horse Advisory Committee is collaborating with the Cinch Ranch Sorting National Championships to offer a cattle handling and 4-H Ranch Horse Clinic March 9-11 at the CSU Equine Center in Fort Collins. This clinic is for 4-H members and adults alike. This isn’t your high speed ranch sorting type of clinic but rather helping people learn the basics cattle handling skills, horse maneuver basics, etc. Please see the linked flyer, program description, and registration information.
