Our design community lost a treasured friend and supporter last month with the passing of Darrell Dale. Darrell was a gentle giant of sorts…a large-statured guy with an incredibly kind and unassuming heart. He loved to make people smile (and he gave the best bear hugs). To our IIDA community - especially our Evansville City Center where the company he represented, TableLogix, is based - he was as supportive as they come. He was extremely encouraging as we established our City Center; anything we needed, Darrell would do his best to supply. He would donate the BEST door and raffle prizes for our IIDA events (I'm still jealous of the leather laptop bag Jason Southwell won at one of our Membership Mingles). But, more importantly, Darrell showed up. He attended any IIDA and design event that he could, and he was quick to respond whenever I had a question or a problem to solve on site. He took care of his design community and pride in the company he represented and would always go the extra mile to ensure we were happy with his product.
Darrell passed on September 26th, 2021 after an incredibly tough battle with COVID. Though we’ll miss his genuine smile (and those giant bear hugs), we know that his legacy will live on through TableLogix and the friendships he nurtured through the years. Our thoughts are with his wife and three boys as they navigate a new world without him in it. I hope you'll take one minute today to pause and think about how Darrell encompassed all that is great about IIDA; a supportive connector and a positive advocate for the design community.
