Your Vote Is Your Voice – And YOUR Voice Matters

Make sure your vote counts this November by following these simple steps:

1. Check That You're Registered to Vote

Think of voter registration like a library card, and even if you got one years ago, it's worth checking that it's still active and that your address is up to date, especially if you've moved or changed your name.

It only takes a minute to check your status online:

3. Make Voting Easier with Absentee Voting

You CAN have your ballots mailed to you, or you can vote early!

Missouri and Kansas offer a few ways to vote by mail or ahead of time.

Check deadlines for registering and mailing ballots; click here: Kansas or Missouri.

  •  No-excuse in-person absentee voting: Starting two weeks before Election Day, you can vote early in person at your local election office AND no reason is needed.
  • Mail-in absentee ballot: If illness, disability, or travel on Election Day would keep you from the polls, you can request a ballot by mail.
  • The Permanently Disabled Voter list: If you have an ongoing illness or disability, you can ask your local election authority to place you on this list. Think of it like setting up autopay for a bill. Once you're signed up, you're automatically mailed an absentee ballot application before every election, so you don't have to remember to request one each time.

Kansas voters can request here: Kansas Secretary of State Application for Advance Ballot

4. Don't Let the Confusing News About District Maps Distract You (Missouri Residents)

You may have seen news stories about confusion over Missouri's congressional district maps. That's a legal matter being sorted out by the courts, and it will get resolved.

Please don't let that confusion keep you from taking the simple steps above because your voice is just as important this year as ever.

It does not change where you can register, whether you can vote absentee, because your vote matters.

If you need help making sure you are registered to vote and/or deciding HOW you want to vote, KC Shepherd’s Center is here to help.

We have trained team members who can come to your home and walk you through the registration process. Call us at 816-444-1121 or email us at advocacy@shepherdscenter.org
