Joe Bravo founded Westchester Independent Living Center 40 years ago! Joe led the organization as it grew from a small non-profit in White Plains to one serving Putnam and Dutchess with regional programs in New York City and the seven counties of the lower Hudson Valley. Staff has grown from three to almost 70 employees.

On January 1, Joe retired from WILC. We will miss him! We are grateful to Joe for his hard work, dedication to equality, and forward thinking.

Joe, many thanks you for all you have done for WILC and the greater community of individuals with a disability and independent living centers throughout New York State. You will be missed!
40 Years
WILC first opened its doors in 1981 and has maintained a steady presence in Westchester County and the Lower Hudson Valley Region - incorporating in its daily activities the Independent Living Philosphy of choice, societal inclusion and empowerment.

What We Do
As a peer-driven, community-based non-profit WILC empowers people with disabilities to lead self-directed lives in the community through advocacy, training and referral to resources that promote independent living.

WILC provides a wide spectrum of non-residential and non-medical services to persons of all ages with all disabilities, diverse and underserved populations. In all services provided, WILC will continue to promote personal awareness, personal responsibility, self-reliance, recovery, self-advocacy, positive self-image, and self-determination and self-sufficiency in a culturally appropriate manner.

To see the many programs we offer visit the WILC website and/or visit the PILS website.
We are all waiting and wondering...when can we get the COVID-19 Vaccine?
