Lakeview Township Property Tax Property Deadline September 17
43rd Ward homeowners who live in Lakeview Township (north of Fullerton Ave.) have until September 17th, 2012 to file an appeal of their property tax assessment. If you have questions, Commissioner Gainer is holding a property tax workshop in Uptown. Click here for more information.

Dear Friends,
Starting September 17th the 43rd Ward will be moving to a grid garbage collection system. Instead of having garbage collected along ward lines, garbage and recycling will now be collected along a grid. This means that Streets and Sanitation will use fewer crews for less time. I am confident that this new system will be both more efficient and more cost-effective. Click here for the new grid garbage system FAQ sheet.
Garbage
Garbage will still be picked up every week, however all 43rd Ward residents will now have their garbage picked up on Tuesdays.
Recycling
If your household receives curbside blue cart recycling services, your recycling will also be picked up on Tuesdays on the weeks you are currently accustomed to. If your household receives alley blue cart recycling services, your week of service will remain the same, but your day of service may change. Please leave your blue cart in the alley during the entire collection week to ensure collection. We'll let you know the exact dates as soon as they have been settled.

Starting Friday, September 14th, Homeowners South of Fullerton Can Appeal Their Property Taxes
43rd Ward homeowners who live in North Chicago Township (south of Fullerton Ave.) have from September 14th-October 14th, 2012 to file an appeal of their property tax assessment. If you have questions, Commissioner Gainer is offering satellite office hours at the 43rd Ward office in addition to a property tax workshop at the Lincoln Park Library.
