AND NOW, A BRIEF INTERMISSION
WE'RE BACK! WITH FOOD TIPS & STRATEGIES
Now that food shopping (aka lock-down hunting & gathering) is such a stressful ordeal, it's more important than ever to avoid wasting food and to be organized about planning and storing food. Here are a few tips & strategies that may inspire you. Most will be reminders of what you already know; some may be new. I'd love to hear what has worked for you.
TRY NEW RECIPES

Get inspired to try some new recipes. Pictured here Broccoli-Dill pasta (vegan + kid friendly).

Some sources I've liked:

PLAN YOUR MEALS
Plan meals and organize your shopping list for efficiency to reduce your time in the store. And no surprise that we do waste much less food when we plan weekly meals and "shop" first in our refrigerator & pantry.

SHOP SAFELY
There are many sources for tips on safe grocery shopping now, so I'll just repeat the basics:
Social distance.
Wear a mask.
Wash your hands.
Don't touch your face.

STORE FOOD WISELY

Once you bring your food home, storing it properly will help it last longer. This chart has been a game-changer for me!

More tips for storing food & organizing your fridge:

Houzz recently featured the pull-out storage in our award wining Montclair kitchen in their story on Smart Storage Ideas for Organizing Food Containers. Of course, we recommend glass containers for food storage.

TAKE OUT
Some days you just can't face cooking. It's OK to take a break. In fact, you're helping restaurants stay in business right now when you order take out. If you can, think about ordering out once/week.

DONATE IF YOU CAN

THANK YOU ~
