Dear Calflora Community,
We have exciting news: Calflora now includes over 45,000 new plant surveys spanning across the state!
This is a huge advance toward providing Calflora users with even more comprehensive distribution information for all wild plant species in California. Calflora is an independent nonprofit plant database, and we aggregate plant data from thousands of sources.
A survey is a list of plants associated with a specific location or area, and these new surveys fill in data gaps. To incorporate them into Calflora, we collaborated with California Department of Fish and Wildlife's Vegetation Classification and Mapping Program. They are conducting plant surveys across the state to map vegetation types. When you use Calflora, these new surveys are automatically included.
Thank you to CDFW, the botanists who conducted these surveys, and to Calflora staff for adding these surveys in The Calflora Database. Thank you also to Calflora donors; as an independent nonprofit organization, you make our work possible.
Sincerely,
The Calflora Team
