On behalf of all of us at CAT, thank you for being part of the CUNY Creative Arts Team's mission to use the power of theatre and drama to support young people, schools, parents, and educators throughout New York City and beyond.

At the core of CAT’s work is a commitment to arts-in-education as being fundamental to every young person’s education. Theatre and the arts create spaces of belonging where people develop the agency needed to interrogate the world in order to make change within it.

For more than 47 years, CAT has worked to co-create spaces that support open, brave, and transparent conversations in which everyone can recognize their power to problem-solve and try new strategies.

This past year and a half has been a time like no other. CAT continues to work in-person and over screens to create theatre, build community, and facilitate dialogue on issues young people care about including racial and social justice, climate change, mental health, healthy relationships, empowerment in their education, virtual drain challenges, and online vs in-person communication.

Over the past year and a half, CAT has facilitated programming at 139 schools and sites (virtually and in person!) and created 3,600 sessions for 11,000 pre-k through college students and 2,100 adult community members. While we are proud to share our metrics, we emphasize that the relationships CAT educators build with each student, teacher, classroom, and school make it all possible.

Thank you to all for past support in so many ways this year and others, and most of all, thank you for being part of our community.

With best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season!
