Larry's process of kiln fired glass is a five step process. All of the glass is cold worked and then heat manipulated in the kiln. The glass is removed, cooled, and then woven together to complete the base of the art work. The base product is then placed in open or closed panels to create the flat form.

Larry Hamilton’s Artist Statement - Since 1979, glass has been the creative medium in my life. My disciplines within the medium have changed, from my early years doing stained glass in a Tiffany style, to briefly visiting a form of blown glass known as torch work. Around 1990, still enjoying the transfer of light through glass, I discovered my niche in fused glass. Being able to see a piece in my head and go on to create it has been a great joy to me. In 1991, while visiting the Corning Museum of Glass, I saw my first pieces of woven glass from an early 1900 display of period pieces. I became captivated by the pieces of woven glass. There was no relative material available on the process, so I felt like I was inventing the wheel. Trial and error became a way of life. After a few years of working on it part-time until the process and basic skills of weaving glass were accomplished, I then began using these skills in different artistic avenues. With the artistic edge wide open I’m constantly changing my direction. The latest look I’m working on is one I call candyland glass. It is a combination of bright colors and graphic designs that have a candy-like appeal and form into my own carpet pattern designs. In the finished art piece, the colors dance with the light. So after 35 yrs, I think I will be able to spend several more years exploring this phase and other deviations of woven glass.

TheBeltlineBuzz items are selected by our editors. No one can pay to be featured on TheBeltlineBuzz. That's what advertising is for, and it's always labeled as such. Selling ourselves (literally) would destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of TheBeltlineBuzz. Plus, we'd never earn your trust that way. So we'll never make a dime off your meal at a restaurant nor a penny from the sale of the latest accessory we told you about.
That said, on occasion, we will send out "Dedicated" emails on behalf of sponsors. You'll recognize them from the subject line: " TheBeltlineBuzz Dedicated Email." Yes, these are paid for. And, no, we would never sell our subscriber list to anyone. Not for any amount of money.
We hope that you continue to enjoy your Beltline Buzz. We look forward to delivering it.
