So many people do not have enough Savings!

What did you just say Jeff? Did you just say most of Americans do not have savings? Yes that is exactly what I said. There are 124 million US households. Of those, 49% have Zero to 10K in savings. Almost 70% have less than 100k and this includes retirement savings. Of the 124 Million households 82 million (66%) own homes.

What can I do about this? Well if you own a home you have a few choices.

• Debt Consolidation-you can consolidate your debt including mortgages, credit cards, personal loans, student loans into one monthly payment saving you hundreds every month. I just saved a client $1300 per month. She can save over $15,600 per year($78,000 in the first 5 years). That is real savings.
• Refinance- use some of your equity in your home for other investments. Values of homes are at an all time high and the average home has close to $200,000 in borrowing equity. You can use your equity to purchase safe investments that will make you money while you sleep. The value of your home will continue to increase.
• Invest in a second home or rental property. this is away to attain wealth over time. If you buy an second/vacation home, you will be growing your assets on two fronts. IF you purchase a rental property, the renters will be paying your mortgage for you. And you home will continue to increase.
