4Q Market Overview
We held our Q4 2024 Pricing Meeting Review in early January, it has taken a bit longer to validate the information from the meeting, but we finally have it wrapped up and live on the website. 2024 ended on a good note when referring to the resale markets. We saw demand peak around mid-year and tapered off through year end. Overall, the markets have continued to improve not only by the number of transactions, but also the transactional values. Many popular helicopter models saw an increase in value in 2024 while some older and less competitive models saw value reductions.
A large shift in demand is being seen in the firefighting and heavy helicopters sector right now without much to choose from. With supply levels the lowest they have been in the past 5 years; values have been steadily rising on these assets. Even the older Airbus AS332L, L1, and L2 models are being pulled out of storage and reassembled for operations or sales.
Now that the new Administration has started working on campaign promises, its going to be another wait and see game as to if or how any of these changes being made are going to impact the Helicopter Industry. From recent calls with some of our U.S. clients, we are already hearing of some operators shifting from suppliers outside the U.S. to suppliers inside the U.S. to be proactive in case the proposed tariffs go into effect after the 30-day extension. We are all hoping that this won’t throw a wrench into the mix for 2025. Below are all the changes made this quarter to The Official Helicopter Blue Book®, less changes than most quarters but that is not always a bad sign.
