4 th Annual Women's Conference

The Consulate General of Mexico in Austin, in collaboration with Migrant Clinicians Network a non-profit organization, will launch the 4th Annual Women’s Conference, event primarily aimed to all Hispanic women in the Central Texas area who wish to build capacities in the field of business, entrepreneurship, and personal development. The Consulate’s Ventanilla de Salud , as well, will provide free glucose, blood pressure, and eye exams for all people attending the conference.

During the first part of the conference, Elena Aranda, Director of Wellness, Health and Education at “El Centro Amistad” will speak to the attendees about the ways to handle stress in everyday situations. Afterwards, the conference will host a panel about women entrepreneurship success stories, leading by three immigrant business-women who have exceled in the Mexican gastronomy field in Austin: Maricela Godínez from “El Mesón”, Alma Alcocer from “El Alma”, and Mónica Ruiz from “Hecho en México”.

Later on, the conference will address the implications of domestic violence, and professor Carmen Valdez, from UT School of Social Work, will discuss tips with the audience in order to improve mother-daughter communication.

At last, Sabor de Salsas will enlighten us with a comic monologue about the elements that conforms the Hispanic identity, and Elena Aranda will return to talk about mental health among young children.

Community organizations and business leaders, including Access Dental, Alzheimer Association, Amhiga Hispana, Alliance for Public Health, Asociación de mujeres empresarias (AMEP), Baylor Scott and White, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Foundation Community, Mary Kay, Más Mujer Austin, Mr. Natural, myDental, Nice & Bella by Gaby Ale, Permament Beauty Institute, Prinso Health Center, SAFE, Scentsy, Southwest Key, Superior Health Plan, Thriveworks, and Underage Drinking Prevention Program, are partners in this effort and will be present at the conference to discuss any additional resource and services for the attendees.
