4th Quarter 2018 Newsletter
Thank You for a great 2018!

Greetings and Happy Holidays!

I want to personally thank everyone in our community for their continued support this past year. 2018 was a successful year of internal growth and rebuilding. The entire team at United Way Manitowoc County is proud of where we are, and looks forward to furthering our work in the new year ahead!

Earlier this year, we began our transition to an issue-based approach to collective action that elevates our four board voted upon community priorities, including community engagement, youth social and emotional wellbeing, early connections and literacy, and basic needs. To better serve and connect our community, we launched the Volunteer Connection Center late this fall.

Through the 2018 Campaign, we placed our emphasis on building strong relationships and elevating community engagement rather than focusing on a monetary goal. As a result, through meeting one on one with our employee campaign coordinators and presenting at various companies and community meetings throughout the county, we were able to share our message and renewed focus, and have gained the support and trust of many in our community.

As we look ahead to 2019, we couldn’t be more excited to continue fighting for each and every community member across the county. Again, thank you for your continued generosity and commitment. We look forward to working with you all and continuing our growth in 2019!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, I invite you to give me a call or stop by our office. I'd love to connect with you!

LIVING UNITED,

Volunteer Connection Center

In mid-November we launched our brand new Volunteer Connection Center. Our online volunteer center aims to better connect our community members by bringing together Manitowoc County’s nonprofit agencies, individuals, businesses and schools.

You can begin signing up for volunteer opportunities that fit your skillsets and passions by visiting our website and clicking “volunteer.”

In 2019, we look forward to further engaging our community members to work together and accomplish our community’s goals!
End of Year Giving

As our 2018 campaign comes to a close, we would like to thank all of the companies and individuals who have generously run workplace campaigns, provided corporate gifts and made individual contributions. We are able to continue fighting for the health, education and financial stability of every person in our community because of your support!

There is still time to make a year-end gift that impacts lives across Manitowoc County and ensures a brighter future for all. Visit unitedwaymanitowoccounty.org/donate to LIVE UNITED and make an impactful holiday gift.

Wisconsin Addiction Recovery Helpline

Late this year, the Wisconsin Addiction Recovery Helpline was launched to connect our communities with local treatment services and recovery resources for substance abuse disorders, ranging from opioids and methamphetamines to alcohol. Any individuals struggling or friends and loved ones of those struggling with substance dependence are encouraged to reach out to one of the trained specialists by dialing 2-1-1 or visiting addictionhelpwi.org . This entirely free service is available to our community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

2-1-1 Materials

Our 2-1-1 helpline provides easy access to health and human services across Manitowoc County, and our goal is to ensure all of our community members know about the many services they can be connected with 24/7. We invite you to share this helpline with your employees, customers, and friends and family!

If you would like to order 2-1-1 materials, including posters, literature rack cards or wallet cards, in English, Spanish or Hmong, for your employees or customers, simply click here to fill out an order form.
