This Sunday - Spiritual practices that help us connect with God and with each other.
March 24 Connecting with God through Prayer Beads (Laurel+), Board Room after both services
Sometimes when we pray, it is easy to become distracted or for our minds to wander. For centuries, Christians have used beads to pray: from the pebbles of the desert fathers and mothers, to the Catholic rosary and more recently, with Anglican prayer beads. In this session, we'll explore how prayer beads can enhance our prayer lives, aiding us in stilling ourselves, in listening, or providing a tangible, touchable way to encounter the Holy.
Lenten Quiet Day - Our Sacred Mandalas: Connecting To The Center Led By Paula+
Next Tuesday March 26, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
This quiet day will explore some of the history of mandala art and how the mandala has been used as a tool for meditation, personal growth and expression. In our two sessions, we will have opportunities to experience the centering practice of creating a mandala, Sanskrit for circle, starting from the center and building out. Paula+ is excited to lead our time together and share her own personal journey and work with mandala art.
Lent calls us to go within and connect to the quiet center and energy of God’s love. Meditating with or creating one’s own mandala offers a release of healing and centering energy.
Lenten Taiz é
Next Tuesday March 26, 7:00 p.m.
Join us for our Taizé service of healing for Lent. This Taizé service, filled with music and candlelight, also provides the option for intercessory prayer with a Prayer team leader. We pray that the time will be a healing comfort for whatever you face or hold in your heart.
Lenten Supper Series - "God And Science Agree - We Are Meant To Be Together", led by local psychiatrist Joseph Lee M.D.
Supper ($8 pp/$20 per family) 6:00 p.m. Program 7-8:15 p.m.
Week 3 - Next Wednesday, March 27: Rationalism and Empathy
Making good choices involves reliable data and critical thinking, right? Actually, reliable data and critical thinking say that the most inexplicable feeling, empathy, is much more important to almost everything that we do.
Dr. Lee specializes in a health-oriented focus on personal growth and well-being, who also speaks at churches and conferences on his passion, Social Emotional Learning for parenting and relationships. He is a life-long learner who enjoys being able to find the intersections between all the facets of his identity and interests. He also has an embarrassingly large collection of Transformers.
Baptism Opportunity!
Are you or a family member wanting the Sacrament of Baptism?  On April 20, the Easter Vigil , the night before Easter Sunday, is our next offering to celebrate someone becoming a new member of our faith tradition. (After that date, Pentecost, June 9, is the next of four offerings in the church year. We also perform baptisms for pastoral exceptions when another time is best for a family.) Contact Paula+ with questions.
