A Word from the Pastor
Sunday Worship
10 a.m. in the Sanctuary
Online worship at 10 a.m. on Facebook
Devoted: The Greek translation means to continue to do something with intense effort, with the possibility of difficulty; to keep on; to persist in. In the text for this Sunday from the second chapter of Acts, we learn how the early converts lived out the message of their newfound faith in four different ways. Following the dramatic events of Pentecost, there is suddenly a whole new community of enthusiastic, faithful believers. Luke tells us how it worked then, and how their model might work for us now...in four devoted steps. Join us this Sunday, online, in the Sanctuary or Open Door in Hickey Hall(with masks) for worship ...three venues to participate in the faith community of St. Paul's. All will be welcomed, because all are included!
Rev. Judy May
The Open Door at 10 a.m. in Hickey Hall
This week’s question, where does it hurt implied that we all know suffering and pain. Acknowledging and believing that pain is real, bearing witness to each other’s suffering cultivates compassion. In 1 Samuel, not only is Hannah’s pain ignored, her suffering is mocked and yet she courageously lays all before God. This is powerful for Eli to witness and completely transforms his perspective. She experiences the grace in being seen and know by God, Eli finally acknowledges her feelings and prays for her. Notice that Eli does not need to solve her problem for his presence to have impact. Naming our pain and bearing witness to the suffering in others is necessary in this broken world. By sitting with someone who is hurting we ensure there is less isolation which is a grace. May we sit with each other and trust in a God who accompanies suffering.

Faith, Hope, & Love Redefined
As you follow the Jesus path, words matter. Sometimes, they lose their impact because you’re so familiar with them. We’ll consider faith, hope, & love so you can think about those words in a fresh way.
