Calling all children ages 5 -10 years old:
Beginning this Sunday December 19, St Antoninus will have a new monthly Children’s Ministry during our 10am Sunday Mass. This will be a Liturgy of the Word for Children that will take place in the rectory chapel during the 10am Mass once a month. The children will come to Mass with their parents as usual and then they will be dismissed just before the readings begin and return during or just before the Offertory. This will NOT take the place of catechism classes. Participation in this requires on-time arrival at the Mass.
Thank you Sr. Genevieve Okoro, DMMM for directing this vital ministry with our children.
In the New Year the Children’s Liturgy of the Word will be every 2nd Sunday of the month during the 10am Mass

This Sunday, Dec 19 is our neighborhood Christmas Caroling outreach, followed by the live Nativity at the Friary. Immediately after the 10am Mass this Sunday, we will have a quick bite to eat in the church hall, practice a few Christmas Carols and then proceed right out into the neighborhood singing Christ our Savior and handing out cups of hot chocolate, as well as flyers for the Live Nativity at the Friary. Then at 2pm everyone is encouraged to come to the Friary of the Blessed Sacrament for the Live Nativity Play. Our gifts, along with other gifts, will be given out at the end of the show. With rejoicing let us hear and share in song the Good News of the birth of Jesus with our brothers and sisters in the neighborhood!

Christmas Food Distribution & Prayer Outreach on Tuesday, Dec 21.
St Antoninus is collaborating with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal in our annual Christmas food distribution and prayer ministry. This outreach is for our brothers and sisters in our neighborhood. If you want to volunteer in this prayer & hospitality ministry, please come to the rectory at 9am.
We will have a brief time of praise and worship, preaching and prayer ministry, followed at 10am by the distribution of ham and other food items for Christmas dinner.
All volunteers are welcome to come to the friary for a 7:30am Mass and breakfast that day.
If you are coming for Mass, pls come by 7:20am to the gate of the friary that is on 9th st (between 12th & 13th Ave).
If you would like receive a ham to cook for your family Christmas (while supplies last), text to 551-689-0107 by this Sunday.

INFANT BAPTISM. Expectant parents should call the office to register for the baptism of your baby. Most of our baptisms take place during Sunday Mass.

Daily Rosary at 7pm on Zoom.
Every Tuesday at 8pm, we have Scripture Study- in person & on Zoom ( following the 7pm Rosary, using same Zoom link). This is mainly focused on the upcoming Sunday Mass readings, based on the video series, "Mass Readings Explained" by Dr Brant Pitre, who is a renowned & insightful Bible scholar, followed by discussions. As Fr Joseph mentioned in his Advent letter, here are some ways to prepare for Advent.
- Get an Advent Wreath and light the candles during your meal time together. (May this Advent be the beginning of Family Meal Time, which means actually sitting together at the same table and praying Grace before meals!) At this time of Advent, light the specific Advent candles, while praying Grace and reading the Advent prayers.
- Eucharistic Adoration and/or a daily Mass once a each week
- Family Rosary daily or at least once a week.
- Divine Mercy Chaplet daily or at least once a week.
- Outreach to the poor. (Refer to our Giving Tree and Caroling Outreach)
- Pray & read Scriptures together, especially the readings of daily Mass.

Fourth Sunday of Advent Year C
Mary and Elizabeth : Two models of Confidence in God
The gospel today presents to us two women: from humble origins but made extraordinary by the grace of God that they have both received. One knew the pains and disgrace that sterility brought upon a Jewish woman. It was a good reason to be scorned socially in her cultural context. That was Elizabeth. The other was now living an experience unprecedented in history- pregnant in her virginity, certainly a new and mysterious occurrence. That was Mary.
Mary and Elizabeth are bursting with anticipation, with expectation. Mary is a young girl, newly married, with a baby announced by an angel and conceived miraculously. Elizabeth is an older woman, one who thought her chance to have a child had passed. Her baby, conceived naturally, was also announced by an angel, the same angel in fact, Gabriel.
The women knew that not just their lives would be changed, but the world would be changed. They greeted each other, and the baby within Elizabeth, the future John the Baptist, recognized the presence of the Messiah within Mary. Elizabeth was overwhelmed with excitement as she realized that her child would have a vital role in God’s plan for His people. Both women proclaimed their gratitude to God for working His wonders within them.
These are two women who knew how to put all their confidence in God. They teach us one thing this day learn to believe the impossible in matters of God. God works miracles that science must dismiss as foolish and unthinkable. You have this problem of yours too that you are giving up with, don’t you? Cancer, anger, death of a loved one, an unfaithful wife or husband, a delinquent child, a marriage difficult to bear, et cetera. Can you begin to pray and believe that God is sure to put all things again straight?
As we prepare for Christmas this is the right time to do the needful finishing touches in your life so that your heart will be ready to accommodate the birth of the Savior. At this point we could ask ourselves some questions like:
“Have I gone for confession in order to be worthy enough to celebrate with Christ at Christmas?”
“Have I made peace with my neighbors and those whom I perceive or who perceive me to be their enemies?”
“Do I have room for Jesus Christ to be born in me?”
“What gift will I offer to the new born king?”
“Will his coming at Christmas make me better or worse in my relationship with Him and my neighbors”?
