Dear Friend of CCSD93,
Congrats to Board President Briggs!
CCSD93 Board President Keith Briggs was honored today with a Distinguished Service Award of Excellence from the Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (INSPRA)! He's one of just four Board members in Illinois to earn the award.

His leadership has enabled CCSD93's Board to speak with one voice, united under the goal of providing outstanding, wide-ranging opportunities for our community's children. Thanks to his contributions, in just the last year we've been able to offer innovative learning spaces, safer school front entrances, an ambitious new Strategic Plan, a unique new employee loan benefit program, and a number of additional facets that contribute to providing each CCSD93 student with a relevant and engaging education.
Mr. Briggs is generous with his time. He has spent thousands of hours preparing for and presiding over CCSD93's Board of Education meetings, participates in regular Carol Stream Intergovernmental meetings, serves on CCSD93's Finance Committee to ensure that CCSD93 is a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars, and attends as many school events as possible, serving as a keynote speaker for graduations and college and career fairs.

Mr. Briggs is incredibly deserving of this award, and I'm extremely grateful for Mr. Briggs and all that he's given to CCSD93 and our community. Please join me in congratulating Board President Keith Briggs!
CCSD93's Online Registration for 2019-20 is Live! Register by 5/31!
Online Registration for the 2019-20 school year is now open. Last night, we sent out messaging to all parents whose residency has been verified inviting them to register online. If you received an email with registration information, please register as soon as you're able. Be sure to check your email, and you can find out more at   www.ccsd93.com/registration .

For parents whose residency we could not verify, we sent separate messaging indicating that it must be verified with CCSD93 before you can register for next school year. Our goal is to have parents who verify residency register for 2019-20 on the spot as soon as they do. If you received a message about needing to verify residency, please keep an eye out for a letter with even more information being mailed to you soon. For more, visit www.ccsd93.com/residency.
Congratulations to CCSD93's Retirees and Years of Service Staff Members!
Monday evening, CCSD93 honored retiring staff members and those who have reached milestones of 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years of service with CCSD93! I can't thank these staff members enough for their dedication to CCSD93's students, families, and community at large. Thanks to their commitment, each student is able to receive a relevant education every day they step foot into one of our schools.

Pictured here are retirees CCSD93 Assistant Superintendent for Teaching, Learning & Innovation Dr. Marie Hoffmann; Western Trails Teacher Ruth Miller, and Early Childhood Center Secretary Cindy Goorley. For more from the evening, visit this webpage.
Thank you, CareFest Volunteers, for Beautifying Our Schools!
Last Saturday, Wheaton Bible Church sponsored CareFest. It gave community members, including volunteer school and district staff members, an opportunity to work together on landscaping and other projects at all CCSD93 buildings. I thank them for all of their hard work; our schools look terrific! Pictured here is Board member Rich Davis and his CareFest crew!
Mrs. Addante of Western Trails Earns Personalized Education Certificate!
Congratulations to Western Trails 2nd Grade Teacher Judy Addante for becoming the latest CCSD93 staff member to earn our Personalized Education Certificate! She's just the 10th staff member to earn the honor thanks to participating in 540 hours of CCSD93's Personalized Learning professional development series.

Because of her efforts, Mrs. Addante has become an expert on personalizing education for her students and is able to meet the first Strategic Goal of CCSD93's most recent Strategic Plan: provide a truly relevant education for all of her students! Here she is pictured with me, Dr. Hoffmann, and Western Trails Principal Joy Sebastian.
5/9 Board of Education Meeting Recap
Gavel
The most recent CCSD93 Board of Education meeting was held Thursday, May 9 at Heritage Lakes School. The following occurred at the meeting.
  • Heritage Lakes students, staff members, and parents presented about the school's "One Book One School" program, which was started in an effort to encourage families to read together. The project tied in unique aspects including teachers posting full chapter readings of the book to YouTube for children and families to read along with, 3D printing projects, support from the Carol Stream Public Library, and the use of social media including a tweet from the book's author! Here are some of last night's presenters with the Board.
