Kids Dance Day!

Walnut Hills leadership was proud to join our incredible community partner, Dancefix Foundation, for Kids Dance Day! Over 600 3rd and 4th graders from Greater Cincinnati schools came together on May 6th to showcase a super fun dance they mastered during Dancefix Foundation’s in school programs to music mixed by Cincinnati Music Accelerator!

Students were provided transportation, a delicious bagged lunch provided by LaSoupe, and a cool t-shirt, PLUS exciting performances and participation from local arts organizations including the Cincinnati Art Museum, Cincinnati Ballet, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Drums for Peace, Revolution Dance Theater, The Well, The QKIDZ, Visual artist Evan Verrilli, and Cincinnati Kung Fu! A huge thank you to The Cincinnati Parks Foundation for allowing Dancefix Foundation to host this unforgettable experience in Eden Park.

Dancefix Foundation created this day to foster community and joy, providing many students their first opportunity to visit the park or to see a live performance!

Kids Dance Day school partners included: Frederick Douglass, Mercy Montessori, Empowered by the Arts Academy, Midway, Fairview, S.C.P.A., Kilgour, Hartwell, and North College Hill.

First Baptist Church of Walnut Hills

The First Baptist Church of Walnut Hills received $240,000 in national grant funding for roof and water damage repair!

The church is one of this year’s 33 grant recipients from the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund’s Preserving Black Churches program! Thanks to the generous support of Lilly Endowment Inc., this $240,000 grant is part of the $8.5 million awarded to historically Black churches across the United States.

“First Baptist Church of Walnut Hills has been part of our neighborhood for over 150 years,” said Dr. JoAnn Morse, a volunteer for the Walnut Hills Historical Society. “During that time, this congregation has welcomed families from the Great Migration, sung spirituals and Bach, supported youth, and advocated for justice. It is a privilege to have our local church nationally honored with this grant.” Learn more about First Baptist Church of Walnut Hills on the historical society's website.
