| | Heritage Lakes Hatchings: Learning About Chicks in 1st Grade | | In 1st grade, a key learning standard students explore is lifecycles, and a terrific example is that of a chicken. During the springtime, many CCSD93 1st graders examine these birds’ development firsthand by hosting and observing eggs from incubation to hatched chicks in their classrooms. Discover more about what Heritage Lakes students learned from the experience this year in this video! | | Building Skills & Friendships Through Inclusive Track | |
Over the past four weeks, middle school students with disabilities participated in Jay Stream’s Inclusive Track season, practicing and competing alongside members of the Carol Stream Police Department and their peers. While developing track and everyday life skills, students also demonstrated sportsmanship and built meaningful relationships.
Last week, the team wrapped up its season with a final meet at Glenbard North, joining the general education track teams from Jay Stream, Stratford and Monroe. CCSD93’s inclusive athletes proudly competed in events such as shot put, the 100-meter dash, and the 4x100-meter relay.
| | Western Trails 2nd Graders Give Sweet Performance | This week Western Trails 2nd graders performed “Lemonade” for parents and peers! The fun-filled musical featured students as classic fairytale characters turning their rough days around with help from Mother Goose through catchy songs and clever rhymes. Special thanks to the school’s PTA for providing refreshing glasses of the titular drink for guests! | | Spring Concerts Bring Music & Magic |
Jay Stream band students took the stage on Monday for their spring concert. The evening concluded with an exciting full-band finale performance of “Dynamite!” It was a joy to see all of the students come together to celebrate the end of a successful year.
Meanwhile, Stratford Middle School’s bands performed on Wednesday. The concert featured three bands and the jazz band, all showcasing magic-themed music and attire for a fun and festive celebration! The theme continued the next day at a school assembly, where the bands played along with the school's choir and orchestra, and students and staff performed magic tricks!
| | Band & Orchestra Sign-Up Season is Here: Families of 3rd & 4th Graders Invited to Instrument Rental Night on 5/19 |
It’s an exciting time for CCSD93 students! Band and orchestra directors are currently visiting elementary classrooms to introduce 3rd and 4th graders to the world of instrumental music. Third graders are learning about orchestra and will have the chance to join next school year. Fourth graders are discovering band instruments in preparation for 5th grade. These students have also visited Jay Stream or Stratford to see the instruments in action by their middle school counterparts.
After students have explored their instrument choices, families are invited to take the next step by attending Instrument Rental Night on Monday, May 19, 2025 from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Stratford Middle School. At this event, families can:
- Reserve an instrument for delivery to school in August
- Rent-to-own is encouraged
- Please bring a credit card or checks
- Meet our band and orchestra directors
- Get help from our instrument provider representatives at Quinlan & Fabish

| | Help Support a New Community Bus at Putt & Pour Fundraiser on 6/4 |
The Carol Stream Parks Foundation is hosting a Putt & Pour fundraising event on Wednesday, June 4 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Coyote Crossing Mini Golf to help replace the Park District’s aging passenger bus, originally purchased in 2012.
The bus plays a key role in providing safe, affordable transportation for seniors, youth and families across the community. Whether it’s transporting seniors on weekly trips, shuttling over 250 campers between parks and pools each summer or supporting community events and emergencies, the bus is essential to making programs accessible and affordable. With rising repair costs and reliability concerns, it’s time for a new one.
