The 18th Air Service Task Force Airport After Hours will be held tonight, Thursday, May 2 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Hoppies Landing at the Pellston Regional Airport. The event will feature food by Hoppies Landing and a cash bar. Admission is $10 cash per person or you can pre-pay online here.
This is a multi-chamber networking event promoted by chambers of commerce and visitor bureaus from St. Ignace, Mackinac Island, Mackinaw City, Cheboygan, Indian River, Petoskey, and Harbor Springs. The event helps to raise funds for the Air Service Task Force, which is comprised of business leaders working to maintain quality air service in Pellston for more than 25 years. July 10th Art Show welcomes Birchwood Farms Golf & Country Club as Premier Sponsor
The organizers of the July 10th Art Show at Nub’s Nob Resort have announced that Birchwood Farms Golf & Country Club has come aboard as their Premier Sponsor. The Art Show is organized by the Harbor Springs Area Chamber and the Northern Michigan Women's Club.
“It’s a great match to have Birchwood Farms, one of the premier country clubs in the region, joining us to sponsor one of the premier art shows in Northern Michigan,” said Chamber Executive Director Bonnie Kulp.
The luxurious country club is situated on the breathtaking shores of Lake Michigan just north of Harbor Springs. Their facilities include world-class golf, racquet and clubhouse/dining facilities.
The chamber and the Women’s Club teamed up to restart the Art Show in 2023, after a three-year pandemic hiatus. Last year’s show was a major success, attracting 84 artists and hundreds of art lovers.
More than 100 artists are expected this year, and very few booths remain for the July 10th show. Interested artists are encouraged to submit applications as soon as possible. To apply please click the following links:
The Art show runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 10th. Admission is a suggested donation of $5. Proceeds from the Art Show benefit the Harbor Springs Chamber and the many charitable organizations supported by the Northern Michigan Women's Club. Anyone with questions may contact Bonnie at the chamber, 231-526-7999, or email director@harborspringschamber.com.

Vesper concert in John M. Hall Auditorium.
Bay View Association announces summer events
Are you looking to fill your summer days and evenings with engaging events? Bay View’s summer schedule of lectures and events will satisfy every curiosity and there is something for everyone. Tickets and registration are open now on the website.
“We are especially excited to celebrate this season’s schedule with a free vesper concert on June 16, and we invite you to return each Sunday evening to enjoy the wide variety of music from Broadway favorites to Gershwin,” says Executive Director Megan DeWindt. “Our mission is to provide enriching opportunities for everyone. Free admission for children provides an in-person arts experience and encourages families to Experience Summer With Us,” DeWindt says.
This season's roster has something for everyone and is punctuated by returning favorite, including Emmy-nominated, multi-platinum selling pianist and singer-songwriter Ben Folds on Friday, June 28. “With so many Top 10 hits to choose from, fans of all ages will also enjoy singing along with Creedence Clearwater Revival on July 6,” says Chris Ludwa, Artistic Director at Bay View. “We are planning to showcase our beautiful campus and enjoy an outdoor event on July 24 with The Accidentals. A summer lawn concert engages all ages, builds community, and serves our mission,” Ludwa said. “If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the event will be at Crooked Tree Art Center.”
Readers will be pleased by the wide selection of authors presenting at Bay View, designed to spark conversation and connection. Bay View’s historic campus offers smaller venues allowing the audience more intimate discussions with the writers. Subjects and authors are wide-ranging and a small sampling includes Mike Slater on June 22, Ada Ferrer the week of July 8, John Smollens on July 16, Rob Henderson on August 1, and Dr. Kirk Byron James the week of August 11.
This summer includes a traditional worship service every Sunday at 10:45am. “Bay View continues to dance between honoring history and exploring fresh perspectives,” says Rev. Dr. Hilary Barrett, Director of Worship and Religious Life. “Each Sunday brings a different voice as we host a ‘Preacher of the Week’ highlighting a variety of religious perspectives from across the nation. Full press release.
For a full list of events, and to purchase tickets, check out www.BayViewAssociation.org. Register online for the best selection. The Bay View Box Office at Voorhies Hall opens on June 14 from 9-12pm for in-person registration.

Harbor Springs High School Youth in Government program seeks financial support
The chamber is including the above flier at the request of Josh McDonald, Harbor Springs High School social studies teacher who is also the Lead Advisor for the school’s Michigan Youth in Government program. This is a state-wide program that encourages students to take part in the political process, and they are hoping to get some financial support from the community.
Josh said: “We have two conferences that we attend. We have a one-day Fall Conference in Traverse City and a four-day Early Spring Conference in February. This takes place in Lansing. To make a long story short, students work throughout the year writing bills and proposals that they will then try to pass at the Early Conference in Lansing. Students get to actually use the Capitol Building and get to be mock Representatives and Senators. Students can also participate in mock trial competitions. We usually have at least one team that prepares for that. The reason I am contacting you is because over the last three years, the state legislature allocated money for a grant that schools were able to apply for. We were awarded that grant over the last three years. Now, it doesn't look like that grant is coming back. Without that grant, we are looking at the total cost per student to be around $650. If parents have to pay that amount, I am certain that we will see a pretty big drop off in student participation in this great program.”
