“The world promises you comfort, but you were not made for comfort. You were made for greatness” Pope Benedict XVI
Dear Parents,
On Tuesday night, we gathered in a joyful celebration with our 8th grade students as they concluded their time at Holy Family and prepared to begin their next chapter: high school. It was a beautiful evening, filled with prayer, reflection, and the love of our community. Fr. Tom celebrated the Mass, joined by Fr. Lijo and Fr. Higdon, as many members of the Holy Family community came together to send our graduates off with blessings and best wishes.
While the evening was a highlight, one of the most meaningful parts of the day came earlier. Before the Mass, Mrs. Morley, Sister Rene Noel, and I guided the students through their final practice. There’s something uniquely special about spending those last few quiet hours with the 8th grade class as students. The anticipation of what lies ahead is palpable, yet in the stillness of the dimly lit church, we rehearsed for a moment that had not yet arrived.
To me, those moments of preparation are sacred. It’s the final time we get to guide them, not just in logistics, like reminding them to bow, but in spirit, as we offer the assurance of our continued prayers. These small, quiet exchanges often become my most cherished memories in ministry.
The Baccalaureate Mass is certainly a momentous time, but I hold close the quieter moments when I can tell our 8th graders that they will always remain in my prayers. Each year, the list of former students grows, and each name is a reminder of the joy and responsibility of walking with them, even briefly, on their faith journey.
To the Class of 2025: you are in my prayers. May you always remember that you are a beloved child of God, and that your Holy Family community walks with you in love and faith.
God Bless,
Erin Vu
