Looking Toward 2021-22
As we look forward to next year, please know we are committed to providing full in person schooling. Each school is working on three draft plans: one that addresses the current Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) mitigation strategy guidance, one that anticipates a slight loosening of those mitigation strategies, and one that anticipates a significant loosening of those strategies. We expect forthcoming updates from IDPH and ISBE, but not knowing when or what will be included, our schools are planning for as many scenarios as possible.

As I have shared previously, our greatest issue since this spring has been ensuring that all students in each building are able to eat safely at the currently prescribed six feet of social distance. If current guidance remains unchanged, each school is prepared to make substantial changes to its lunch schedules for the 2021-22 school year to account for more lunch periods and/or unconventional options for lunch seating and spacing to enable all students to attend in person. As long as public health guidance does not change to be significantly more restrictive than it currently is, and all indications from data trends and state health officials suggest this should not be the case, CCSD93’s schools will be prepared for fully in-person instruction for the first day of school on August 16, 2021. Please look for more information regarding limited remote learning options in the next few weeks, and finalized details about the school year in later July.

Congratulations, CCSD93 Graduates!
Last Saturday, 8th grade students from Jay Stream and Stratford graduated at Glenbard North’s Weber Football Field. It was terrific to see each school’s graduating class convene together one final time to mark this momentous occasion. Congratulations to our graduates on their completion of 8th grade! We look forward to what you will accomplish in high school and beyond! Visit www.ccsd93.com/JSgraduation to view Jay Stream’s event and www.ccsd93.com/STgraduation to view Stratford’s.
This will be our final Enews of the 2020-21 school year. Please review the following for additional important updates from CCSD93.

Western Trails Innovation Center & Front Entrance to be Redesigned This Summer
Starting next week, Western Trails Elementary School’s Innovation Center and front entrance will be under construction, to be completed in time for the start of the 2021-22 school year.

The revised front entrance will not only add aesthetic appeal, it will increase student safety. The new layout will force visitors to be screened against sex offender databases using CCSD93’s visitor management software before being granted access to the building.

The Innovation Center will be refreshed to create a more dynamic, flexible and engaging learning environment that will enable students to take on a much wider array of projects and learning opportunities.

Check out the following renderings, and look for updates on CCSD93’s social media channels throughout the summer.
