Attention Businesses- Marketing Campaign
Major Social Media Blitz!

With the uncertainties surrounding the retail and lodging world due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the Chamber, Town and Downtown Brandon Alliance, as we did during the segment 6 construction, are partnering to plan ways to draw Vermonters to our town over the coming months. We all need to work together to minimize the impact on our already stressed and recovering shops, inns and businesses.
The restrictions on interstate and foreign travelers means we have to increase our focus on attracting our fellow Vermonters from across the state. We are planning a massive paid advertising blitz across social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. This gives us the ability to target locations, demographics of age, recreation, hobbies and more.
By doing this we hope to encourage and entice folks to "staycation" in Vermont, in our beautiful brand new village, highlighting the wealth of activities and fun we have to offer. Vermonters will not have to quarantine for 14 days and can therefore enjoy our inns and B&Bs while shopping, dining and enjoying the myriad recreational opportunities that surround us.
We are investigating costs to implement this aggressive ad campaign and are fully aware of all of our financial hardships and vulnerability. That's why we are asking as many of you as possible to let us know if you're willing to help fund this project. We will be able to do this generic promotion of the whole town with a relatively small amount from many of us and get a much bigger bang for our buck.

Please send Bernie Carr an email at info@brandon.org stating your willingness to support this endeavor. With enough support we are looking at $50-$75 or so per business. Again we will work to keep the costs as low as possible in full recognition of our fiscal constraints. We can do this! Thanks for your determination and support.

Update on business
information in the
Brandon/Forest Dale area.

This newsletter will be updated every Thursday as things are changing  quickly and businesses will respond accordingly.
Businesses please get info & changes in by 11am Thursday morning.

Please take a quick scroll down the newsletter to see any changes at various businesses

Welcome Back!!
Keep an eye out as more Brandon businesses reopen.

Thanks for your support!

On May 22, Governor Scott announced hair salons and barber shops may reopen May 29, 2020 with limited operations. Religious facilities and places of worship may also reopen at 25% capacity. This does not reopen all areas of business and you should contact any operation to see what their individual status is before going to their location. Governor Scott stated recently he hopes to have dining facilities open to limited indoor seating in the near future.

At a meeting with many of the local business owners there was a discussion on how they could handle employee and customer safety so that there is continuity across the board. In this way, patrons will know what is expected of them when they frequent each establishment. This should help keep everyone informed and reduce surprises as access to more and more businesses continues to expand.

It was felt that erring on the side of caution was the prudent way to move forward, so that the tremendous effort put forth by the majority of Vermonters to this point was not in vain. If there is an uptick in cases and the line moves in an upward curve, Governor Scott may need to re-institute the quarantine measures that he just relaxed.
Continuing with a safe and cautious approach to expanded public interaction seemed the most prudent action.
We want to get open and stay open.

The following informational sign will be provided to all businesses to post on their doors:

Brandon businesses care!
For the health and safety of you, their employees and the entire Brandon community, the following requirements will be in place in many businesses-
-Employees and customers must wear masks.
-Hand sanitizer provided must be used as you enter and exit.
-Limit unnecessary touching of items and surfaces.
-Maintain social distancing.

Keep smiling!  We can see it in your eyes!
Per VOSHA- no one may enter if they have symptoms of respiratory illness.

As we move forward, businesses and employees must understand that how they work is essential to resuming and maintaining business operations. Preventing outbreaks and limiting the spread of COVID-19 is the only way to avoid future business and social disruption. The success of this phased restart will depend in large part on the ability of employers and employees to adhere to the public health, safety, and social distancing measures essential to limiting the spread of illness. To that end, the following is required of all businesses currently operating and those re-started:

NEW HOURS-
Starting Sunday 5/10 we will be going back to our normal hours.
Sunday 7am -9pm, Monday - Saturday 7am - 10pm.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 7am - 8am reserved for senior/high risk shoppers.

At Hannaford, we're committed to helping you and your families to stay safe and healthy during this challenging time. We've implemented extensive social distancing practices and other safeguards in our store. These include limiting the number of customers that are allowed in the store at one time and also having the aisles flow one way, so please follow the arrows while shopping.
Tips for our customers to help us, who are working in the store everyday, stay safe and healthy:

Please shop alone when possible, make a list to make your shopping trip quicker, try to do one big weekly shop rather than several small ones. We stock shelves during the day so please help us with social distancing for the safety of all. We are working very hard to get the shelves stocked and full but some items are not available and out of our control. At this time we are not allowing reusable bags in the store.
Thank you all for your continued support through this challenging time.

Village Spa
32 Marble St- 802-465-8255 brandonvillagespa@gmail.com
Self-Care kits are available for order

An update from Village Spa:
Recently, Governor Scott announced the reopening of more businesses with restrictions.  Hair Salon and Barbershops were on that list.  I've had texts, emails and phone calls from clients wondering if they can schedule appointments.  While we fall into the category of Cosmetology for licensing, we are not on the list of businesses or servicess allowed to open just yet.
This, however does not mean that Village Spa has been closed for business.  Over the last 7/8 weeks, I have changed the way I do business.  It has not been enough to sustain or replace in-person services and wellness shopping options but it has allowed me to stay connected with my customers near and far.  Here are some updates as to what has been happening.

I have been able to offer spa kits and wellness products to support your overall health-physically and emotionally.  I have been meeting customers on line for facials, spa parties, wellness consultations and demonstrations.  I recently had a client with low back issues reach out and we scheduled a Zoom Virtual self care sessions and worked on some breathing techniques and self massage strategies to loosen that area.  I visited a couple of sisters through Zoom and we did a skincare class/virtual facial right from their living room in Colorado. (They would have been visiting this summer but had to change their plans.  This was the next best thing.)

In spite of how great it feels to come into the spa, I am happy to have more and more customers looking for ways to relax at home with a spa treatment.  I have met some wonderful people that I may not have met otherwise and for them, I am grateful.
I have set up contactless shopping to keep your body feeling great and your skin looking refreshed.  I am happy to offer up suggestions/recommendations as we navigate through this transition.  Curb-side pick up and shipping are also available.
Inside the spa, I am working on the little things that go unseen by my customers (thank goodness) such as clearing out the clutter in the basement, getting rid of 1/2 used products, old towels, books etc.  I have upgraded the soap dispensers, hand sanitizer dispensers and trash cans to auto sensor in an effort to make things even more sanitiary.  I revisitied my sanitation practices and received two certifications around protocols for Covid-19.

If anyone has any questions for me on my sanitation protocols, wellness and self-care products available, virtual consultations or services, please contact me via email at brandonvillagespa@gmail.com.

Wishing you well & thanks for your continued kind words, your support and for purchasing from my local business.
Be well & Stay strong,
Heather

Town Hall updates
Scheduling and other info

The Friends Of The Brandon Town Hall have been busy setting up for our 2020 season. Of course the actual opening of the hall depends on town, state and National directives. We are leaning on the side of caution and have already rescheduled all our May events to other times during the season hoping that we might be able to open by the middle of June. Once there is a definite date we will begin our normal publicity with monthly ads and weekly press releases in the Reporter, Chamber of Commerce Newsletter and other local publications.
Always check our bulletin and sign boards for updates and times. In our effort to support and help our economy rebound plus let community members continue to enjoy the events at the Brandon Town Hall, all FOTH events for the 2020 season will be Free Will Donation events, this is possible only because of the generosity of our sponsors.
At the moment we have 25 events scheduled, mostly Saturday nights, from June 13 to December 4.

We will have something for everyone: participation in the town wide celebration for the end of Seg. 6, our popular
Silent Movie series, bands, dances, puppets, theater, Mrs. America pageant, town wide events and our 7th annual
"Brandon Has Talent Show" in September.

FOTH would like to thank all those police, fire and rescue squad personnel, senior center and food shelf, workers and staff from our schools, grocery stores, health center, gas stations, businesses, restaurants, etc., that have put themselves out there to help make this pandemic a little easier to endure. Brandon is such a special place to live and work, we will rebound and be able to enjoy our brand new town.
Looking forward to seeing you, saying hi, no handshakes or hugs, but a lot of love!! Thanks, Dennis W. Marden, Program Coordinator for the Friends of The Brandon Town Hall.

Compass Music and Arts Center & Brandon Music
333 Jones Drive, Park Village   802-247-4295

We hope that you are all safe and well and thank you for doing all that you can to keep everyone safe and well.

We have some good news. We are now able to provide limited opening at  the Compass Center from Monday, May 18th but we have needed to make some important changes before then for your safety and welfare.
We are now trained in how to manage COVID-19 in a commercial gallery and retail setting to make sure that we do our part to keep you safe and well.

The changes
If you would like to come to visit us or shop with us we ask that for your safety you wear your face mask and that when you enter the Center you sanitiz e your hands. Hand sanitizer will be available for your use. We also ask that you do your very best to maintain the 6 feet social distancing requirements. Our building is so large this should not be difficult. We have marked the building with blue arrows to create a one way movement through the gallery and retail areas which should also help with social distancing.
We have also revised our opening hours and after the 18th will only be open Tuesday - Friday from 10am-4pm for public access.
Opening times will be kept under review as State guidelines change.  We all want to make sure that the return to normality comes as quickly and safely as possible.

We are looking forward to welcoming visitors and guessing who is behind the mask.
Take care and stay safe everyone.

Swan & Stone Millinery
802-318-6853

Here's what Swan&Stone Millinery is doing:
Our spring Art Shows have been cancelled (or postponed until late summer) so this spring we will be staying local, at home with our kids and in the studio.
We are a two-woman team and we each have our own studios, so our work habits are already "social distancing," and we have added lots of cleaning products, hand sanitizers and zero unplanned visits.
We continue to work on our spring and summer production--our full line of water resistant rain hats and our elegant straw sun and special occasion hats--and will focus our efforts on our website and local sales.  We will be running various specials online and our hours are "by appointment only," so that we can continue to accommodate custom orders and in-studio purchases.
Our phone number is 802-318-6853, website is www.swanandstone.com and on @Swan&Stone Millinery on Facebook and @swanandstone on Instagram.

We have gift certificates that can be snail mailed or emailed as well.

Computer EZ
Larry Gold

Computer-EZ in Mendon continues to be open regular hours, but customers are no longer allowed up the stairs to the shop with computers. They are asked to drop off and pick up computers downstairs. They can talk with the tech from downstairs or on their phone.

We are starting to schedule site visits, as the economy continues to open, with an eye towards being safe. We show up with masks and gloves and a disinfectant spray in my pocket, and look to be "socially distant" with users and employees on site. Emergency/urgent computer and network needs relating to personal use and business continuation will continue to be addressed immediately as usual. Protection of some sort should be in place on site with the employees or users wearing masks, and will be analyzed as need be.

We will also pick up and deliver computers as needed. Please continue to use phone & email to reach us in the office, if nobody is in the office, please leave a message and feel free to reach out to Larry directly on his mobile. 802-747-8094.

All the best to everyone, be safe, be patient.

Heritage Family Credit Union
AN UPDATE FROM THE PRESIDENT/CEO

All branch lobbies (except for the Hooksett, NH lobby) and drive-thrus will be open during regular operating hours. However, there will be mandated restrictions and changes to our daily procedures, in order to help keep members and staff safe. I'd like to take a moment to share what you can expect:

* Each branch will have a maximum number of people allowed in the lobby, which includes both staff and members. You will notice a sign on the entry indicating that location's capacity. Upon entering the branch, you will see floor stickers placed to keep you physically distant from others. Please do not enter a branch if there are no empty floor stickers available.

* All teller lines and offices have been fitted with plexiglass face shields. Our staff will all be wearing masks and we request that everyone wear a mask while in the branch for the protection of you and our staff. If you are uncomfortable wearing a mask for any reason, we ask that you plan to utilize the drive-thru for services.

* Unfortunately, we cannot allow for congregating in the lobbies. So, if you need to meet with one of my staff, it will be important for you to make an appointment and stay in your car until your appointment time. At the outset, we will have reduced staffing at most locations to assist us in physical distancing. This may increase wait times at the teller line or when meeting with a Financial Services Representative.

* We have increased the cleaning schedule in all of our buildings. Public spaces will be cleaned several times a day and frequently touched surfaces after every use. At this time, we are unable to offer coffee service, coin machines, lobby tech stations or public restrooms.

* As I've said numerous times, we strongly encourage you to utilize online services and e-sign any necessary documents, so you can take care of business from home! If you must visit a branch, we ask you to please limit the number of family members and refrain from bringing children, if possible.

*  Lastly, if you are experiencing any signs of illness or caring for someone who is sick, please stay home and do not enter our buildings. Also, if you've travelled out of state, ensure you've observed a self-quarantine of at least 14 days with no symptoms, before visiting a branch.

Thank you for your patience during these challenging times and thank you in advance for your assistance in following these guidelines as we open our lobbies to the general public. We are all experiencing a new normal and my staff and I are doing everything we can to get back to resume full operations. We continue to be here to serve you and your family's financial needs. If you have questions or if there is anything we can do to assist you, contact us at 888.252.8932 or visit us online at hfcuvt.com.

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Announces Precautionary Measures as Part of COVID-19 Response

Transitions to Drive-Up Service Only
at  Branch Locations

In an effort to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and consistent with many other banking institutions in our region, Bar Harbor Bank & Trust will temporarily transition all branch services to drive-up only service.  This will allow the Bank to continue to provide full banking services, and in-person visits will be by appointment only in order to enable the Bank to conform to social distancing practices through limiting the number of customers inside at any given time.
Bar Harbor Bank & Trust offers a full range of tools for customers to manage their finances and get support and guidance remotely. Using Bar Harbor online and mobile banking, customers can manage their accounts, pay bills, deposit checks, transfer funds, and more - all from the comfort of their homes.
Bar Harbor Bank & Trust also has a network of more than 55 ATMs across Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont that can be accessed 24/7. Visit www.barharbor.bank to learn more about these products and services.
Customers who have questions or need assistance should call their local branch, a list of which can be found at www.barharbor.bank/about-us/atm-branch-locator . Customers can also call the Bank's Customer Service Center at 888-853-7100 for assistance.
Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Announces Resources to Help Parents Teach Their Children about Finances
Bar Harbor Bank & Trust has announced the availability of several online resources that parents can use at home to teach their children about finances. The content, which consists of worksheets, articles, coloring sheets, and more, is geared towards students K-12 and includes content for Spanish-speaking families. All of the resources can be accessed at www.barharbor.bank/financial-education.
"Students have transitioned to remote learning because of COVID-19, and we wanted to ensure that parents had access to valuable financial education content that can be taught at home," said Joseph Schmitt, SVP and Chief Marketing Officer at Bar Harbor Bank & Trust. "Learning how to save and plan for the future is more important than ever, and we hope these resources will help put children on a path to a lifetime of financial success."
Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Employees Donate More Than $11,000 to Local Non-Profits Helping People Impacted by COVID-19
Bar Harbor, Maine - Bar Harbor Bank & Trust is donating the proceeds collected in Q1 2020 from its employee-driven charitable giving program, Casual for a Cause, to ten non-profits providing assistance to those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. More than $11,000 is being donated through the program, which pools employee contributions collected each quarter and distributes them to non-profits selected by and voted on by the employees.
The Casual for a Cause program typically supports nonprofits focused on education and workforce development. Because of COVID-19, Bank employees choose to focus the first quarter proceeds on the increasing needs of individuals and families who have been impacted by the crisis.
"All of us at Bar Harbor Bank & Trust recognize the importance of doing all we can in this time of uncertainty and economic hardship to help our friends and neighbors," said Jack Frost, VP Director of Community Giving at Bar Harbor Bank & Trust. "We are honored to donate this quarter's proceeds from Casual for a Cause to these outstanding organizations and to support the essential services they are providing during the pandemic."
With the Casual for a Cause program, Bank employees dress casually on Fridays in exchange for a contribution to a pool of funds collected during each quarter. The employees then select and vote on the nonprofits to receive their contributions. Since the program began in 2018, employees have donated nearly $75,000 to nonprofits across Northern New England.
