The
The Lakeside School Community Foundation
will meet on Monday July 10th to finalize and approve their budget for the 2017/18 school year. Without their financial support many programs would not be available for our students such as physical education, music, counseling, science, teacher reimbursements, and art to name a few. There are many ways each and every parent/guardian can provide support to help the Foundation be successful. Please pitch-in for the 2017/18 school year and find a spot to help out. "Many hands make light work".
Summer facility updates are keeping us very busy! Once again the
The Lakeside School Community Foundation
has allocated monies to resurface the playground blacktop. There will be new colorful play areas for the students to play on when they return in August. Kathy McKinney will be teaching all of the students, yard duty and teachers the games and rules. Exciting fun times ahead. Parker continues to handle the general maintenance "to do" list of items to get accomplished.
The Lakeside School Board will be holding a special meeting on Monday July 3rd at 7:30 a.m. to discuss entering into an agreement with YMCA Camp Campbell for before and after school childcare/programs for the 2017/18 school year. All families will be notified if there will be a change in providers after the special board meeting on Monday. YMCA gave a wonderful presentation regarding their program at the June 21st meeting. Administration was given direction at the last board meeting to ask a few more questions regarding their program and services before they made a decision.
Also, at the June 21st Board Meeting, the Lakeside School Board gave administration direction to have another licensed contractor assess the stability and safety of the wood playground structure. A local, well respected contractor surveyed the structure yesterday and stated it is not safe, cannot be repaired and should be dismantled immediately. The Board will be discussing and making a decision regarding the removal of the structure at the Special Board Meeting on Monday July 3rd at 7:30 am.
Class configurations for 2017/18 have been determined. Some of the criteria I used included student instructional needs, placement of special education students and support staff, teacher experience, teacher input, grade level preference and prior class combinations assignments. I also scheduled a dinner meeting with Ms. Karim for her input regarding teacher assignments and class configurations as she will be their administrator and support next year. Teacher's were notified of their grade level assignment prior to the end of the school year.

I am also pleased to announce that we have secured a two day, per week part-time,
Orff trained music teacher for the 2017/18 school year. Once the contract is finalized, Ms. Karim
will inform you of the new hire. Thank you
Lakeside School Community Foundation for your financial support in keeping the arts alive at Lakeside.
Once again, thank you for the opportunity to bridge the district. I wish the students, staff and families the best under the leadership of Ms. Karim.
Lakeside will always be "The Jewel in the Mountain".
Best Regards:
