As we saw from our elementary and middle school student Satisfaction Survey data, our students have felt even more connected with their educators than in previous years, despite less in person face to face interaction and more distance. This is a testament to how CCSD93’s educators have kept students at the forefront while adapting masterfully to their new normal.

So today I salute all of our educators. Whether teaching and evaluating, providing essential services to students, keeping students safe and healthy, providing a clean educational environment, ensuring our schools operate effectively and efficiently, or countless additional functions that support our students to learn and grow, I am grateful for all that our educators do. If you have not yet, I invite you to join me in thanking our educators.
Nearly 300 Local Residents Vaccinated Thanks to Jewel-Osco Partnership
Last Saturday, we partnered with Jewel-Osco to host a COVID-19 vaccination event at Jay Stream Middle School to continue to help contribute to the health and safety of our community. Thanks to the efforts of nearly 40 CCSD93 staff volunteers and six Jewel-Osco employees, we were able to provide nearly 300 community members with their first COVID-19 vaccination dose. Thank you to all residents who attended, and if you did attend, don’t forget to return at the same time on May 22 for your second dose!
Please Continue to Practice Safety
As students continue to test positive for COVID-19, resulting in the implementation of the isolation and quarantines described above, please continue to stay vigilant in practicing the three W's of wearing a mask, watching your distance, and washing your hands frequently to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and contributing to conditions conducive to in-person learning.

State Assessments Begin Next Week for Several Grade Levels
Late next week, Hybrid and participating Remote middle school students, as well as participating Remote 5th grade students, will begin Illinois state assessments.  Assessments will continue the following week for these students, and Hybrid 3rd-5th grade students and Remote 3rd and 4th graders will also take assessments during those weeks.

While specific assessment schedules vary by grade level and chosen learning option, all 3rd-8th grade families received a message on April 22 with details regarding their child’s schedule and expectations for the assessments. Please be sure to refer back to that prior to your child’s assessment dates. On assessment dates, all students should be sure to bring their fully charged District-issued MacBook, a pencil and a book to read.

Families of participating Remote students will receive additional email messages next week regarding health and safety protocols and busing, if applicable.
