The Central Texas Philharmonic launches its 2026-27 season with a celebration of Beethoven! Joining the orchestra is internationally acclaimed pianist and host of KMFA’s Pianoforte (Sunday nights at 5PM 😉) Anton Nel.
Nel takes center stage in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4, a groundbreaking work that combines intimate lyricism, emotional depth, and dazzling virtuosity. The second half of the program features Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7. A composition Richard Wagner would later praise in his 1850 treatise - The Artwork of the Future - as such:
“In it all impetuosity, all the longing and raging of the heart turn into blissfully arrogant joy, which leads us with Bacchanalian omnipotence through all natural realms, all storms and seas of life, joyously self-confident wherever we take a bold step in this mortal dance of the spheres. [Beethoven's 7] is the apotheosis of the dance itself: dance in its most exalted form, the most blissful of physical movement made manifest in sound."
