1. Ballet Austin: Her Stories
Ballet Austin presents Her Stories this weekend at the Long Center - three phenomenal women sharing three phenomenal stories.

They're acclaimed, in demand, and as choreographers, pushing the creative envelope. With classical roots and a contemporary focus, Amy Seiwert (Imagery), Jennifer Archibald (Cincinnati Ballet and Arch Dance), and Jennifer Hart (Performa/Dance) are breaking barriers with major U.S. ballet companies and helming their own independent dance troupes, featuring diverse movement styles, from ballet to hop-hop. These trendsetting women bring a unique voice and fresh take to their art form. See their work and share in their stories.

Performances take place on Friday and Saturday evening, plus a Sunday matinee. Tickets range from $63.00 to $94.00 and can be purchased on Ballet Austin's website.

2. Arts on Alexander: Messiah - The Passion & The Resurrection
Handel's Messiah is one of the most beloved and well-known large works in western music.

Originally conceived as a work for Easter, it premiered during the Lent season of 1742. Part II covers the death of Christ and the third is focused on the Resurrection.

Arts on Alexander celebrates the season with two performances of the Passion and Resurrection - featuring the Redeemer Choir, soloists, and a 33-piece original-instrument orchestra this weekend at Redeemer Presbyterian Church.

The concerts are free and open to the public. No tickets are required.

3. Texas Performing Arts: The Plastic Bag Store
It's part film, part installation - all bags. Texas Performing Arts moves over to the Blue Genie Art Bazaar space beginning Saturday with The Plastic Bag Store by Brooklyn-based artist Robin Frohardt.

This innovative, multimedia art installation and immersive film bring humor, craft, and a critical lens to our culture of consumption and convenience - specifically, the enduring effects of our single-use plastics.

One-hour performances will run multiple times per day Wednesdays through Sundays at Blue Genie Art Bazaar through Sunday, April 17.

4. Austin Civic Orchestra: Texas Rising Stars
The Austin Civic Orchestra is once again partnering with The University of Texas at Austin for one of its favorite performances of the season, the 8th Annual Texas Rising Stars concert, this Saturday at Bates Recital Hall.

Enjoy a free performance from the talented young winners of the Butler School of Music's String Concerto Competition with accompaniment by the orchestra, as well as a special opening performance by ACO of the Overture to West Side Story.

Tickets are recommended, but not required. Reservations for free tickets can be made in advance online.

5. Austin Symphonic Band: Howdy, Folks!
Austin Symphonic Band promises something for everyone in Howdy, Folks! - a concert of folklore, folk songs, and just plain nice folks.

The program will highlight quintessential sounds of America including The Twelve Gallon Hat by Julie Giroux, Shenandoah (arr. Omar Thomas), and John Williams' Overture to The Cowboys (arr. Jay Bocook), among others. It's a concert filled to the brim with jazz, humor, the Wild West, Broadway, vast landscapes, and beloved American folk songs that is sure to leave audiences whistlin' with a spring in their step.

General admission tickets are $12.00, available online. College students and youth 18 and under get can attend for free. The concert will take place Sunday afternoon at the John B. Connally High School Performing Arts Center.
