5 Tips to Keep Power Bills Lower this Summer
  1. Keep windows, doors, blinds, and curtains closed on hot days to keep the sun's heat out of your home.
  2. Open windows and doors when it cools down to let in breezes.
  3. Cook more in your microwave or outside on a grill.
  4. Use your kitchen and bathroom fans after cooking and bathing to remove hot steam from the air.
  5. Dry your laundry on a clothesline.

Please Beware of Scam Attempts
Posing as a utility employee is a common tactic for scammers.

Lately we have received several reports from customers who received phone calls telling them their power would be turned off if they did not make a payment in 30 minutes. We will not do this.

You Can Help Add Carbon-Free Energy in the Region
When most people think about renewable energy resources, wind and solar power come to mind. So it may come as a surprise that in Columbia County, those two resources combine to make up a very small portion of our fuel mix.

Hydropower is our main source of renewable energy. Dams in the Columbia River Basin create about 85% of the electricity we use.

Through our 100% Wind Power program, you have the option to help further develop renewable energy resources. By choosing to pay an additional 1.5ยข per kilowatt hour for the electricity you use, you help support wind-generated energy. Enrolling in the program typically adds about $16 to the average monthly residential electric bill.
