Hi Friend!
I know I just email you yesterday, however I heard a friend over a past event telling us that she was afraid of cutting her designer series paper..
And so if you have been in the same position, I wanted to share with you a few tips to help you use all your paper..
After all, we all been there...
We love the patterns so much that we don't want to cut it out.. Instead we collect it or in my case hoarded it!
But let me share with you a little secret.. 🤐
The more you use it the more you can get.. (boom - mic drop)
Think about it.. Your paper is taking space in your room.. And if you are honest, you know that with each release of a catalog you want to get the newest paper packs!
Also another secret I want to share with you..
Designs you love today, might not be as trendy in a few years from now.. so use it now rather than later..
I can't tell you how much paper I had from years and years ago.. and I know I loved them big time.. however when I look at them today, I don't love them as much.. Mainly because these are not as trendy today as they were a few years ago..
Plus it is harder to create cards with paper packs that do not excite you as much..
Not to mention that with Stampin' Up! retiring colors each years, you might not be able to color coordinate as easy, since the cardstock, inks and embellishments are not longer available..
So if you want to start using your paper packs here are a FIVE tips to help you..
- Look for patterns that coordinate in the paper pack and use them together!
- Look for sketches that has large background pieces and use DSP for those elements.
- Look for elements in the pattern of the paper that you can cut out and use it in your cards.
- Adapt the design of your card to fit the scrap you have, not the other way around.
- Cut half of a pack in 6 x 12 sheets and challenge yourself to use one half of each design in your cards!
Ok my friend for the next 5 days I will be elaborating on each of these tips and give you some examples, to get you inspired and cutting those beautiful designer series paper (DSP) packs!..
TIP #1 - Look for patterns that coordinate in the paper pack and try to use them together as much as you can in a card.
Below an example of a card that uses four different patterns from the same designer series paper (DSP), I even stamped the sentiment in the patterned paper rather than cardstock..
